3000RK Slide Wire Protector Busted
I arrived home from Christmas and discovered this.
I hadn't paid much attention to this area because it was just a couple of wires but something made me do a double take. Anyone else have problems with this little piece of plastic? I think I am going to put some type of hinge where the plastic hits the frame. I haven't had much time to look under there and come up with a formal plan. I may have to come up with a better more permanent fix.

I used a four to five inch galvanized door hinge on all three of these attachment points. This subject has come up in the past, you might want to check other posts....

I bought the hinges and they're sitting in a locker. I just haven't gotten around to installing them. I suppose it would be eaiser before those things break.
OldGuard, looks like tinypic deleted your pictures, as they are wont to do after a time.

I'd paint the hinges before I put them on and I'd use some of that rubberized paint, then hit it with another coat after install for the bolts.
Good luck.

I had had one plastic part replaced while under warranty. The replacement wasn't any better than the original. Today I installed a hinge as there was a crack 3/4 of the way through the plastic. A ten minute job once you get the parts from Home Depot (or Lowes or ??).

I took a slightly different approach. I bought some of the rubber molding that goes around the baseboard for tile. I cut two pieces about six inches long and sandwiched the existing plastic between the two pieces. Then I pop riveted the three piece sandwich together and put the original screws back through the doubled thickness of rubber. It's holding very well. If you have a pop rivet tool, it is probably the cheapest way. If you don't, the door hinge may work better. The advantage is no new holes or modifications other than the pop rivet holes.

Ron do you have a pic of your modification? I would like to see it because that sounds perfect.
