smells from the holding tanks

We have the peninsula island. Everytime I opened the back drawers - there was a smell. Room deodorizers couldn't cover it up. When my husband finally looked - the grey water tank is vented to the inside of the cupboard (and so is the bathroom tank). Is it safe to put a solid cap on the pipe? It came from the factory with a cap that had air holes in it. Has anyone gotten this fixed by Montana (or am I very naive?)

We had the same [problem in our 3400. That "cap" you refer to was defective and after replacement the smell went away. The Galley tank can get very nasty as food will get down there and rot. We treat our Galley tank same as we treat our black tank. Use the enzime treatment, keep the valve closed and dump and flush every day if necessary.
