Billowing Rubber Roof
This may be a useless question, but here goes. We have a 2001 model and it has always had a lumpy roof at the seams and has developed leaks around the forward vent and TV antenna which "Bobs RV" fixed with Dicor products. Yesterday a fellow camper came over to tell Bob that during heavy winds he watched our rubber roof billowing in large patches. So, our question is does the entire roof need to be replaced and does anyone think Keystone will do this on a unit our age? If not, does anyone have an idea of the cost? Thanks.

I really don't think you could as a useless question on this forum, if so - I would be the leader of the pack. Most everyone here has experienced some sort of difficulty or had some questions about their roof.
Did you buy this unit new or was it used when you started with it. If it was new did you at anytime have any documentation of roof problems before. As far as Keystone goes - I never hurts to ask....
I would get up there and take a look, when a wind come's up - see if you can see what it is doing. It may just need a small patch in the area, and that will take care of it. I installed my second AC a few months ago, it was a wakeup call for me. I couldn't believe how thin THIN did I say THIN the rubber roof is, it was scary that something that thin was protecting a $50,000 DOLLAR RV... I would call DICOR company and ask them for their recommendations, or direction. Then Keystone, Then reputable dealership. Good Luck my friends Safe Travels and see you in BRANSON MAY 07, if you can make it. John

Bob and Pam -
I believe the roof has a 10-year warranty if I'm not mistaken. I'd dig through my stuff, but I left it in the Monty when we traded it in. Hopefully someone will chime in that has the paperwork.

We have a 2005 3400RL. We had to have the roof replaced because of leaks and the cost was $3500. if I am not mistaken. Our insurance took care of it. Our deductible was suppose to be $500. but when I went to pay for it they told me they would split the difference and they only charged me $200. I was so thrilled. The dealer was Gardner's RV in Kalispell. I have never been treated so well. When we lived in California we dealt with Mike Thompson's. We swore we would never go back there even if we were on fire.

I had a roof replaced on different and smaller trailer. This also was an insurance claim, best I remember it was somewhere around $3000. $100 deductible was my portion.

If your problems are considered manufacturers defect than you should have a 10 year warranty and you only have 2 options to get this problem corrected.
#1- Contact Keystone Customer Service at 866-425-4369
or
#2- Contact Dicor direct at 800-837-2059
So far as a cost there should be none not even a deductible.

I've been up on our Mountaineer roof a couple times. I have noticed it has bulges (loose) where the rubber covers the roof joints. I have the same concern as bob n pam. Is that going to be a problem? Should I have it documented? I've wondered what it looks like up there at 65 mph.

Thank you, everybody, for your input. This is just what we were looking for. I'll let you know what we end up doing. Thanks, again.

We have the same bulges in our roof at the roof joints of our 8 month old 3400. We took pictures and sent them to Keystone. At the Rally we had a Keystone rep on the roof looking at the "bulges" which he declared as "normal" We have the pictures, his name , rank and S/N, and dates of declaration documented...just in case of "billowing"

On our 07 3400, the roof paperwork says it has a "12 year Brite Ply membrane material warranty and a five year labor warranty to the original purchaser against premature deterioration to the point of failure because of weathering." It also states, "The warranty applies to the membrane only and does not include improper installation, sealant, adhesives, flashings, or other accessories contained in the roofing system."
