That is a great price. I paid a little over a hundred for it 6 months or so ago. I update 2-3 times a year. Usually right before we start a new trip.
We live in a fast growing area with frequent new streets, restaurants, businesses, etc. Most new ones show up within about the third or fourth update I do. So I assume that is typical across the country.

We just bought a new Garmin (as the old one died) so I had to take advantage of this deal. One update (I am assuming my new one will last that long) is around $70. You can't go wrong with this deal.

I splurged and bought a new Garmin 1300 with lifetime map and traffic updates for $129 at Best Buy. It acquires satellites much quicker and is newer technology than my old Nuvi 350. $59.99 is a good deal though!

my garmin is still new enugh to get free up dates, but in my oppion they are not accurate, when we were in Montana last year a road/hwy type still shows a dotted line for 5 miles, it is bad information it is all paved, and a fast drive into Glashier Park east side, a campground near my home still does not show the road going into it yet and thats a road that is 6 years old into the park. I think all there updates are a waist of your money.

The last in dash nav system we paid to update was on a Nissan Pathfinder...cost us $200 and the "new" data was no better than the old: still not showing whole developments that were years old and providing incorrect directions to some places. Now, a couple of days ago we got an invitation from Ford to update our current in dash nav...also for about $200...think I will pass.... Having said that, I would still never consider buying another vehicle without the nav system.

A few years back I had to speak to a Tech specialist from Garmin. In our conversation I had mentioned about how even with a new map update I still got incorrect directions....
Garmins suggestion for this issue...
When you come across areas that have not been updated on their most recent maps... "was to call in or email Garmin with this information and they will put this in there updates. Sometimes they can only get the information when someone takes time to report it".
Sadly to say I have ran across so many areas that I can report to Garmin, but I have not taken the time myself to do it...Either I am too busy (so I never complain anymore when good ol' Garmin misleads us) Or the other reason...I actually forgot the location that I wanted to report.
Just wanted to share this little bit of information.

It still amazes me that they have as much data available as they do. Every major highway, every major street, virtually all significant side streets as well as most insignificant ones, farm to market roads, ranch roads, county roads, hospitals, restaurants, businesses, stores, etc. along with addresses and phone numbers. Can't imagine the size of that database required to maintain all that. And how they manage that database and try to stay up to date with it. There are some new streets that have been built locally over the last few years and they tend to appear on the GPS within a year or so of opening.

Like Kevin/Partycrashers said, you can report mapping errors of shortcomings on Garmin's error report page. https://my.garmin.com/mapErrors/report.faces Tech suggested I use it when I complained about "driving across fields!"

Chris and I love doing the "field" trips. Remember them Ron??? Garmin is a great tool. It takes you to places boy scouts haven't been to!!

Dennis, You will have to go a lot further now to find places the Boy Scouts haven't been. The Scouts now have a merit badge for Geocaching which includes the use of GPS units.

When I was on the Gaspe peninsula in Canada a couple years ago there were several errors and streets missing. I reported them to Garmin and when I returned the following year following the same route they had all been corrected.
