Water pressure setting

2010 Montana 3400RL. Just bought a new fancy water regulator with a gauge. Just wondering what you are setting your pressure to. I think I read somewhere that anything over 50psi is asking for trouble. Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks. Rick. Bound for Texas tomorrow from frozen and snowy Minnesota.

I think our regulator came preset at about 50 psi, which works well.

Keystone recommends 45 psi for our 2017 Montana which is fine in my opinion for everything but the shower. We have our regulator set to 50 psi as well.

I set are's at 60 PSI and have never had any problems in any of are 5er's! The big problem is when you are in camp ground with very low to no water pressure.

I suspect that Keystone is being very conservative in their recommendation of 45 psi just to mitigate any potential loose fittings/leaks...just sayin.

Allegedly the water system is rated for 80-100 PSI. I have run my regulator at 65 PSI in every rig I have ever had. No problems ever (other than low pressure and that isn't the regulator's problem).

60 is good for us. My concern is volume moreso than just pressure. It is common to have adequate static pressure but not have enough volume to keep up. That is why we have a high performance water pump. When campsite water supply is inadequate (showers) we can run off the fw tank. Most cheap pressure regulators do a fine job of killing water volume.

Eight years of fulltiming in both a 2010 and a 2017 always set on 65.

Anything above 40# our fresh tank fills up and runs out the overflow vents? I would like to have more pressure

You have a bad check valve in your water pump causing your issue. Had the same thing with a SOB.

I have a fixed one that is set to about 40 psi, and it just isn't enough. 50 would probably do the trick but no personal experience.

The cheap fixed regulators are too restrictive of water volume even though they may keep pressure regulated. That's why the pricier adjustable regulators are so much better, because they maintain the pressure with almost no restriction of flow. 40 psi with good flow will likely work well, as most of the fixtures in these rigs have water saver features that control water use.

Here is a question. If you run an external water filter between the water hookup and the camper would you put a regulator in front or behind the filter for pressure regulation?

Regulator at the water source. Protects your filters too.

I put my adjustable regulator in the convenience center. Out of sight out of mind from preying eyes and eliminates the chance that I would leave it attached to the spigot when I leave. I could fill a bin with all the cheap regulators I’ve seen left behind. My water filter has handled the pressure from all of the campgrounds that I’ve been to.

I have a 2 or 3 foot hose(hooked to the faucet) and attach the filter to it, then the regulator. Since the filter reduces pressure and/or flow, the pressure I set is what enters the trailer.
And I just leave the short hose, filter and regulator together so all I do is add on the regular hose and I am done.
Oh, also I set my pressure at 50 or 55 because 40 results in a really low flow in the trailer for me.

I set ours at about 60#and removed the water saver in the shower head to get a good water flow.
