This guy put ton effort into test black tank flushing options. Build clear tank and the works. Really opens you eyes to all the hype of tank flushing.

yes it is very sad. when i changed my black tank out I removed the tank wash nozzle and hooked it up to the hose in the tank. it was like the sprinkler for the grass. So, rather spend more money I drilled the hole out bigger and added some, this made it better, IMO
IMHO this whole rv industry is a ripoff, End user gets to fix and upgrade crap materials and workmanship, and we except it as, That's just the way it is.

I will be the first to admit that I had one those clear 45 degree flush with hose connected that I recommended to several people because I thought it was doing a good job.

I know some have not been happy with their built in flush systems, but I have been happy with mine. When I start the flush I can hear a very obvious spray noise start up inside. After draining the black tank, I start the flush, close the drain valve, let the flush run about 2 minutes, open the drain and drain the tank, close the valve for another 2 minutes, open the drain valve, repeat 2-3 times. The first time or two there is quite a bit of additional solids comes out. Each time there is less until the water begins to run nearly clear.

Ditto BB_TX. Black Tank flush has worked well on all three rigs, however, we also use a black tank additive called Odorloss (and occasionally TST Orange) which definitely helps.

Here a trick that I use. My outside show connection and black tank flush is in the same area. I run the hose from the shower to the black tank flush and I can use hot water to flush the black tank. I can even do a flush when I using a dump site as long there isn't a line waiting to dump...

We put in a couple of gallons of water in the black tank then the additive and we figure on the way home it will break down any solids that will flush out the next time we dump the tanks.

I have seen what the spray nozzle produces, trust me its not good. yes you can hear it spraying but the streams are so small and only hit one spot in the tank, the streams don't move at all. the tank is about 7' long and 2' wide and the nozzle is at the opposite end from the drain at the narrow end. these spray streams are like a squirt gun. Again, i have seen it in action.

Another trick I learned on this Forum is after we use the black tank flush, we fill the toilet bowl to max level then flush, then repeat 4 times or to see a clear water. When my DW does this I see the solids really get flush out.

I've always used the black tank flush till clear and Happy Camper and so far so good.

Just saw a RV where the owner was doing a black tank flush, closed the drain valve and left with the water running.
The end result was effluent flowing out the vent pipe all over his RV and down the awning. Toilet also overflowed into the RV.
I'm not sure if they are still married

Yeah, I never leave the area when I close that valve. Have heard about that too often. I probably don't put more than 4-5 gallons of water in each time from watching the flow coming out.

We have used the Sewer Solution system for almost two years now. That, in combination with the built in Montana Black Tank Flush has served us very well. Perhaps because we are full timers, we never have understood the need or desire to maintain a squeaky clean black tank when we flush. Understood that the object is to prevent a build up of solids within the tank, but really, are a few stubborn particles going to matter? Surely they will go in next weeks flush.

Got to agree with swanny - there's no way the nozzle will really clean out a tank that long & wide. It probably does help get anything laying on the bottom moving, but I've come to live with the fact that I don't need to have the thing spotless. (Kind of like not caring if there's some dirt on the roof.) Don't expect our septic tank to get totally clean when it's pumped out every five years either.
