I have been to Show Low, but only from Phoenix and from Holbrook (from I-40) so can't help with that route.

Not a bad drive and no real grades to worry about. Make sure you fill up with fuel when you leave 25 headed toward Springerville. Not many fuel stations available. No cell phone service there either. I would not go that close to the White Sands Missle Range without stopping. Of everything we have seen in the last 6 years traveling 29 states west of the Mississippi, the WSMR was the most amazing thing of all. I believe pulling your rig through is ok so long as you don't camp. Show Low is a really neat little town with many very friendly folks.

One thing you need to look for os theVery Large Array not far from Socoorro. It is a large group of radio telescopes. When you see it, I am sure you will remember it from movies.

If you're in the area also make a stop at White Sands National Park. It is one great place to visit and spend a few hours at! The white gypsum sand is as bright as snow on a sunny day. If you are inclined to, purchase one of the discs at the store and enjoy a good slide down the dunes. It's like sledding down a big hill of snow and just as much fun but not cold! If you want to bring in a piece of cardboard to do it that works also. We made the trip back up to White Sands without the Monte because we didn't want to pull it thru the Park even though there were plenty of Class A's, fivers and regular t/t being towed through the park while we were there both times.

Ruidoso has some great casino's and RV Parks. Never stayed there but gambled several times at Inn of The Mountain Gods. Loved their blackjack tables.

Like Rondo said, White Sands is great and I know we saw RV parks there, but don't remember. Carol is a Travel Nurse and we have stayed 6 months in Show Low and 3 months in Roswell, but most of our traveling this route were day trips.

I can almost promise you there is no RV parks after you leave route 25 on 60. That is the most desolate road I have ever been on. You may drive over 100 miles and not see another human.

RV park on the West end of Magdalena,NM on Us 60. Also stop for a piece of pie in Pie Town, NM. Several spots off the highway west of Magalena also.

Stop at the vistor center at the VLA.

IMO this is a very nice drive.
