Tape on the slides roof coming loose..
Ok, today was wash the roof of the Montana so we can Eternabond the seams. In doing so I found that the seam on the outside edge of the slides has what appears to be some kinda tape on it. On the main slide it is just coming off and rolling up. But on the bedroom slide it appears to have a bunch of air under the tape. Not knowing what is under the tape should I either try to pull the tape up and put down new Eternabond, or should I leave well enough alone and put my new tape down over the old tape. The Eternabond I have will cover the old tape and extend out on to the roof.

Mine like yours has had a bubble under it for 6 years. Hasn't leaked so I leave it alone but continue to watch it. If it does leak or show signs of wear on the bubble I think I will cut out the bubbled area and then go over it with the wider tape. My thoughts being to try and remove all the old tape will pull the rubber roofing from it's mastic. Jim

I had the same problem, fixed exactly as described above.

That's why I was afraid to try and remove the old tape too. I'm not sure what kind of joint is under it and was afraid of pullin up the rubber roofing. I already have way too many spots where you can tell the rubber roofing is not stuck down to the wood. I think I will go ahead and put a second layer of tape down on it and cover the whole thing up. It just makes me nervouse being all bubbled up like that. The other slide it is already coming loose where half the old tape is rolled back, so I will put down new tape over top of it.

Primary concern I had was the slide seal itself when closing the slide.

Well that went better then expected. I am really surprised I didn't have any leaks. Most of the caulking was cracked and broken. around the TV antenna there was a big gap. But I just put down the Eternabond over the slides tape since it was about 1-2 inches wider. At least it looks a lot better. I need another roll since this trailer has so many openings and vents. It seems that the rubber roofing is bubbled up at every joint on the roof which kinda worries me.
