Haven't noticed any decrease in mileage/gallon since the inception of ULSD.

I understood that the refiners are only refining ULSD now. As the tanks at the stations get flushed enough times the EPA checks the pump to see that the fuel meets spec and puts the sticker on.

We have noticed that the first couple of gas sations on the way into a town or city are usually the most expensive. The closer in you go the more it seems to drop. This being said, Pilot in this area seems to be the lowest. In Four Corners Ca. a couple of years ago, there was a $.50 drop in prices in the distance of 2 blocks.

How bad is the cost of fuel getting out there here it is at 2.79 a gal. and a barrel of oil is cheaper today then last month when the high was 2.49. Sure seems like we are going to take it in the shorts again this year.

I guess it is a good news bad news situation. Good news, diesel is now cheaper than unleaded. Bad news, it is $3.039 here and unleaded is $3.139. Weather is getting nice and summer is coming, time for the oil companies to make some more money.

We bought a copy of the Next Exit. It does a great job of describing fuel stations for every exit. They highlite those that are "RV friendly" ...... It's nice to be able to plan ahead!

I agree. Next Exit is a pretty good reference. Actually gives Vikki something to do besides watching videos. Problem is if she gets westbound instead of east bound she yells at me for the mistake. The other problem with this reference is it list lots of stuff besides fuel stations. Like Costco, Target and Walmart. Damn thing is the most expensive book I ever bought. There are some things you are just better off not knowing.

I tend to gravitate to truck stops myself. I feel more comfortable around them due to having been an OTR truck driver. I like using the truck pumps whenever possible. Not only because I know the fuel moves consistently, but because I like the bigger nozzle. It fills the truck up REALLY fast!!LOL While on vacation, I did notice that Pilots tended to be quite a bit more expensive than the other truck stops. I'm very lucky in that I have a 2007 truck, but the engine is a late 2006, so I can use either fuel.

I had to put some fuel in the truck yesterday, and it's in the $2.69.9 to $2.89.9 range. I was getting used to paying in the $2.49.9 range, this does not make me a happy camper!! I just put in $30.00 worth just in case the price drops again. Back to packing....I'm sure getting sick of this!!

On interstates I use the exit book and choose truck stops only. Works great. I also add Marvel Mystery oil every refueling.
