Summer storage in Florida
Hello, first time user. We have a 2017 Montana and are leaving it in Florida for summer. We have been told to place styrofoam (shiny side in) in all exposed windows. I bought foam and cut it to size, now I’m being told not to use it because I have dark tinted glass. Help please ,I need some advice .

Everyone in this Florida park does, plus various products for humidity control, bugs, mice.

Hi thanks for quick response. Do the folks using styrofoam have dark tinted windows?

Yes, tinted windows are the norm.

We are in Florida near Disney world have been staying the winter here since 2008. We would not leave our 5th wheel here during the summer. It is very hot a very humid both will do great harm to a Rv that is unprotected. We have see what can and does occur. The are services and perhaps folks in your campground that will look after the RV during the winter. Humidity is the killer. Just my opinion but our 5th wheel is very expensive. Check with you insurance company to see if damage caused by heat and humidity is covered.

My rig is in Florida all year, I use a cover to control UV damage. Like the others said humidity is the killer, I use a couple buckets of those humidity absorbers (10 bucks each at Lowes). I spray for bugs and spiders and use bounce dryer sheets to keep rodents out.

We are at a RV HOA were we own our lot most everyone here has RV Garage over their RV's or Single wides to protect against the summer heat and humidity. Many will keep the A/C running set at 80 or 85 tio keep the heat and humidity down. There are folks and services that will check on your RV or single wide during the summer months. It is only April 6th and we will be in the 90's today Humidity at 85%. The A/C set a 77 degrees will kick on at about 10AM are run both A/C till about 10PM Water runs off the roof from the front and rear A/C's in a steady run the lot stays wet all day. Yes you can keep it here all summer just make sure you understand what precautions you must take to prevent damage.
