Just bought a 2008 Montana 2980

We have been looking for sometime for a new rig and thought we wanted SOB. We were fortunate enough to have the Montana District Manager at the RV show when we went to look yesterday and he convinced us it was the best rig for us. We put down a deposit and will pick it up soon. We previously had a small motorhome and have made the big jump to a fiver. We think it will better suit our traveling lifestyle.

We are both newly retired and travel with our three small dogs, so the extra room is gonna be nice. We live in Northern California and have mostly traveled CA (including one month so far this year down the coast and into the desert and back). Although last year we traveled to the Tetons and Yellowstone and were gone for a month. We have lots of travel plans and will do lots of extended trips. We look forward to meeting other MOC folks and attending some rallies.

Welcome to the forum. You will find a lot of good information available here. Be sure to look up the guides for checking out your new unit before taking possession, called PDI's. They are invaluable to finding any problem with your unit before you bring it home. There are lots of hidden areas in the unit that can be easily converted for additional storage and there are a lot of members who can offer advice on where those are in your unit. Happy Rving! Judi

Vicki

top of page, click on HOME

be prepared for a few hours of delightful reading

I think you have to go to the bottom of the page to find additional links, somewhere there is a link to PDI's.

If you don't find it after 12 hours, let us, know, and someone will post the link!

welcome to the forum and to Montana ownership

Welcome to the forum "neighbor". I guess we can be considered neighbors since we live just down the hill from you in Paradise.

I am sure you will really enjoy your new Montana. We previous Montana was a 3075 which is very similar to the 2980 model.

Be sure to check the information about the Spring Rally in June. It is a progressive rally starting at the Valley of the Rouge State Park, then going to Coos Bay, and then to 7 Feathers Casino. It will be a lot of fun and hope you can attend.

Welcome to the Forum! And congratulations on that new rig! We went to the show today and no sign of recession there that we could see.

WOW thanks all, and I cannot believe that we have another forum member who lives just down the hill from us. Of course the folks in my town (Magalia) say that we live just a little above Paradise

I am trying to figure out if we can make the Spring Rally, seems a shame not to do so since it really is close, but some family committments (grand daughter graduation) may keep us from it.

Thanks again for the warm welcome.

Nailbender (Don and Joy) are not the only MOC members in Paradise. Watch for RPHOWARD (Ray and Pam) who also live there. I bet they will also try to persuade you to attend the Spring Rally at 7 Feathers. Even if the timing of 7 Feathers doesn't work for you, the various pre-rallies are a good option to meet a number of the MOC members.

Hi,

In addition to Nailbender, Ray & Pam Howard (rphoward) also live in Paradise. We are enroute home having enjoyed the Quartzsite rally and the 2nd Qsite rally (for those of us who regrouped after traveling around a bit) being among the last leave.

Check out the forum for information on the upcoming spring rally. This is a progressive rally, so maybe all, or some part of it will work with your schedule.

If you have questions, we are just down the hill.

We also have Capt Kidd (Don Kidd) in Chico who will be at the Rally.

Magalia might be above Paradise, but we are below most of the snow you get. lol

We just signed up for the Rogue Valley portion of the trip, hope to see all our "neighbors" there. We will be in space D6 arriving the 26th leaving on the 30th.

Jim and Vicki,

Congrats on the new rig. We are about to take delivery on our 4th RV and have used this PDI checklist on the last 2. I'm sure everyone has their favorite, but this one seems pretty complete to me. I don't do everything on it, but you may want to. Download the Word version - much easier to read and use. Good luck!

Jim & Vicki,
Welcome to the forum. I used to live in Placerville. It's a beautiful part of the country. RonD lives there and will be picking up his new rig in a month. If you have any questions, here is the place to get the answers. Good luck with the new rig.
