Tested the SurgeGuard
My neighbor (who I do not know yet) in a Class A was having problems with his pedestal at the CG when he returned from a short trip. He told the CG the 50amp was bad. They checked it and said it was fine. He insisted it was defective and they suggested something may have happened to his coach while on his trip. He went off on them and said there was nothing wrong with his coach and he wanted the pedestal fixed. Maintenance asked me if I would plug my cord into his pedestal to see if it was okay. I didn't really want to get in the middle of it, but the Class A owner was absent so I figured what the heck. I plugged my cord into his pedestal and in about a minute my power came on. I now suspect he doesn't have any type of surge protection in place and possibly should have had prior to his trip.

On multiple occasions our progressive would not fire up because of pedestal issues, usually a bad ground. On multiple occasions it has shut down because of low power issues which pose potential damage to the rig. Money we'll spent.

Ours has saved us twice, three times if you count the folks who didn't fix it from one year to the next and told us it was ok now.

I wouldn't ever plug into a pedestal without one. You are just asking for major trouble without it.

I love the fact we added this feature to our Montana. I can't imagine not having it now that we do. I used to always take certain things for granted, like tires and power supply. Not anymore.

FYI we had a TRC 50 amp surge protector that went bad a month ago and actually caused a power surge that took out our TV lift, splendide, DVD player. Total cost of repairs thousands of dollars with replacement cost, labor, and shipping. We know for a fact it was defective. Took it off used a friends surge protector all surging stopped. Called mfg and out of warranty our problem. We questioned to buy again or not but did not feel comfortable because as u said in the past it had saved us. So we bought progressive brand with lifetime warranty. BUT.... The warranty is only for the unit itself. It also states if the surge protective is defective they will replace the unit but no damage to items it's may have caused by being defective. So bottom line .... Even if u have a surge protector it's not 100% fool proof and their warranties has loop holes.

Progressive is the only way to go. I think they are the best. They aren't that expensive for the peace of mind it gives me and the protection they provide.
