Entertainment center mods
My 07 Mountaineer has a "built-in" TV in the entertainment center. I am awaiting my coupons for the DTV coverter box - in the meantime, I need some ideas for a location/method to install the box. There is no room on top of the TV, and there are doors on the cabinets above and below where the TV is. Will the remote work THROUGH the closed doors in the cabinets - if not, any suggestions on where/how to mount the converter box? Any ideas appreciated.

The remote will not work through closed doors...it is a infra red type.
If you have a UHF remote set up it would work. I have set up my dish in the bedroom for this . Then you can point the remote anywhere within a 100 feet.
You can buy this conversion on ebay..that is where I bought mine..about $25.
Hope that helps....

Thanks, Roy. Please give me more information on this. What do I look for on e-bay or from other sources? Let me know what it is called and I will check into it.

We went with Xantech with a connecting block and emitters to each device (such as DVD player and Satellite receiver). A little pricey at about $100, but works well for us. I drilled a hole in the stile of the upper entertainment cabinet and voila ~ have control over our individual devices.
With this set-up, you could put the converter box behind the TV if you wanted to. Just another idea...

AS I was reading I was thinking the same Fire1 posted. It would be strange to find a 2007 TV that is not digital now-a-days. Check your manual and see if it says "digital TV" in it as a reception means.
If you don't have the manual, give me the model number and I'll research it on the web.

My 2007 which I received in Nov 2006 had the non-digital. I feel it depends when they came off the line in the 2007 run.
Cheers,

Dennis, I also have an 07 307RKD that doesn't have a digital tv. Original delivery was in 06. Anyway, I was looking to replace the dvd/stereo unit and thought of removing the wood between the left and right speakers, and the center speaker. Then install a shelf just above the tv. Just a thought. Jim

From what I can gather online, my tv is an analog model, although the date of manufacture says "November 2006" on a sticker on the back of the tv. After much pain and suffering, I got it out of the cabinet today. I had to cut the screws with a hacksaw blade to get the thing out. Anyway, there is nothing on the tv which indicates analog or digital, but the info online says it is analog. I thought I read somewhere that tv's built within the last three years would be digital, but I guess that is not the case. Anyone with an RCA TV model 24V412T out there who can shed some light on this? Any further info appreciated.

FYI
The Wal-Mart SANYO 26" Digital LCD TV is now priced at $367 and fits perfectly in lieu of the 27" Toshiba behemoth it replaced.
The new Sanyo Digital TV picks up all the local stations and HD is great. The picture is brighter than the old Toshiba. Saved over 50 lbs of weight too!
