Unit ladder isn't portable to different locations...ladder is not just to get on roof but to reach various locations that may need fussing with...got the CW 6 ft one too.

I use a Gorilla Ladder. It unfolds to 12'. Folded, it is a compact 3-1/2'. It lays in the basement until needed. It can be divided into two step-ladders and with a sturdy plank, they can be made into a scaffold. The main reason I have it is that it is rated for 300#.

Wayne, I think what you describe is "4 square inches" What I described is 4 inches square which is 4" by 4". Play on words, I think!!!! Mine is the 6 footer (Length)!!!! I meant the ladder. lol

I have a $36 6' ladder from Target. I use it to put the awning up and down (de-flappers and extending and tightening the upper arm). It does not get any more use than that - except when the neighbors borrow it. Rides in the back of my LB TV just right during hauls. If it wears out, I just go get another cheapo. Might be different if it didn't sit idle for weeks at a time.

I have needed my step ladder a couple of times to open and close the stove exhaust vent on the outside. Been in places which placed the unit very high.

I carried a 6 ft ladder with us one year....I didnt like the idea of lashing it to the RV ladder and it wouldnt fit in the short box..so I built a frame and bolted it to the underside of the trailer.....that lasted as long as it took to get eyeballed by the first Border Patrol unit going by....they thought my handy work was ok for Canada but not for there...made me take it off and I had to carry the ladder inside the RV when on the road....apparently it could be used as a hiding spot for illegals hitching a ride.....

Reasonable question.

From the start, we have carried the 4" 6-foot folding ladder from CW. I used it for over a year, but the biggest problem was that 6 feet is not tall enough to reach the front cap. I also found that finding level ground for all 4 legs was tough, and found myself in some rather precarious positions...can chimpanzees hang too?

I still carry the folding ladder, think it might be an asset again sometime, but the new tool is the telescoping ladder. I have had it now for about 3 months and would not be without it. It is quick, and easy to telescope up and down and at 10.5 feet the ability to reach all of the upper reaches of the Montana is real easy. The rungs are all coated with a nice rubber that keeps it from marring the finish. It folds down to 20.5 inches and easily fits in the basement without being in the way.

I have a folding 7 foot ladder from CW. It rides in a basement on a "shelf" I put hanging from the basment rafters. I've used it numerous times but nearly always it is for removing bugs from the nose of the Montana. I used to use it to reach the knobs on the patio awning (way up there on the 3400) but found I can reach them using a small folding step stool that rides in the bed of the truck between bedrail and toolbox. Saves pulling out that ladder.

I think you'd find many of those you see that do not have a ladder bungeed to the rig ladder have a ladder of some kind in the storage area. Not everyone, but many.

Robbie, what you discovered is exactly why I sold my six footer and bought the seven footer. Now I can reach all the way to the top.
