Four slides? any problems with that many?

Looking at the 345dbq...

wondering.. now that I have had a bit of difficulty with 2 slides on this unit.. are 4 slides more problematic??

It seems that 4 slides are worked the same way.. with one switch and one pump..

thoughts?

Thanks!

John we have owned two 5th wheels with 4 slides and two with 3 and haven't had a problem. However they both have had individual buttons to put them in and out. I really think the seperate buttons are the best by using that method you can move what ever slide you want out. But one plus for the 4 slides in most cases you can get to the Fridge without putting out a slide. The 5er we have now has the 4 door fridge with water in the door and a ice maker its great for traveling when you need ice or cold water and you don't have to put the slide out. But I also think the 5er's with the two super slides and the bedroom would be the least problems. As you know the more movement the more chance for problems. And we all know these 5th wheels are problematic to begin with. Good Luck with your choice. GBY.....

John, welcome to the forum, we got a new 340RLQ last Oct and h love the four slides, so far we have had no problems with the slides. No leaks, no hang ups, and no other problems. we love the room and ease of operation. From reading the forum I paid special attention to all the hydraulic hose connections and everything was tight and we haven't had any leaks. We have two 100 lb Labs and there is a lot more room in this rig than the 29 foot Jayco we had last. We are full timing and it is just enough room and small enough that I pretty much know where everything is. Good Luck with your search.. Dave

We have not had a problems with our four slides so far. If available, I'd recommend getting the hydraulic selector valve option. It lets you select the slide(s) you don't want to move when you push the switch. That way you can put out/pull in which ever slide(s) you want.

We have 4 slides and, like the others have said, no problems. I love the extra room. Living in it full time it sure does make a difference. I saw one last week with 5 slides. It wasn't a Montana, so I didn't explore it further...

We have a 2955 RL with 2 slides and one swithch. When we retract them, The bedroom moves all the way in and then the living room slides in about half way and stops. I let go of the swithc and then turn it on in a few seconds and, so far, the room has retracted all the way. Is this normal??? this is a 10th anniversay model and we have only had it about 2 months.

We had a 3-slide 2003 and now a 4-slide 2008. We have not had any trouble with slides. Even though we can close valves and manipulate one slide at a time, I would rather have the ability to button select which slide I want or choose to manipulate them all at once. That option is available on units manufactured after mine.

We are finishing our fourth year with our 2005 3400RL. We have loved every minute and haven't had any slide issues except if we had a cabinet door or chair get in the way. The slides have been very good on the Montana.

As has been stated, four slides, no problems, get the valve selector option.

I ditto what billhoover said. The selector option would be a great improvement. But no problems so far.

I think there is a problem that the slide does not go all the way in at one push of the button. We have a 340RLQ Big Sky and have been having problems with the large kitchen and living room slide coming in. We did not have this problem previously. It stops 3 times and I have to restart it. We are on the road to alaska and about to go out of warranty so called Keystone Customer Service so that our problem is noted. They said it could be a sensor or the pump. We have no leakage. What we would have to do to get it in manually does not sound like fun.

2007 3400RL with four slides that is at the dealer now because the slides will not extend. Only noticeable cause was a child's flip flop that was discovered when bedroom slide never extended fully. Retracted slides and then nothing on the extend. Got a hunch it is the pump motor but we will know more next week and will keep everyone up to date. It is not a fool-proof system but failures evidently are few and far between.

We have a 2005 2955 the bedroom goes out first and then the living room. The living room does not stop half way in. I would call your dealer and have it checked out.

What about that inline fuse that so many of us replaced OR put in a second one?? Isn't this the same issue?? It heats up, which stops the slides, then cools, in just a few seconds, and then will allow you to finish deploying the slides.

?????????

Good luck on your slide issues everyone.

Bingo
If there is foam in the tank...you have an air leak in the system.

In May of ’07 we purchased a ’07 3400RL for a month or so as I didn’t notice any problems. Then when I would retract the sildes, the last and largest slide would stop and I’d wait a second and restart sometimes once or twice and then the slide would completely retract. I just added it to my list of nuisance problems and in the fall when I took it to the dealer for warranty work, the short story is that it didn’t have a full reservoir of fluid. It was filled, and have not had any problems since.
