LED lights

How do you get the round LED ceiling covers off. Looks like they should pop off. I have tried but they don't come off. They have pieces of dirt inside the covers.

Anyone remove theirs?

Thanks

Don

They are held up by a spring hanger.. Gently grab the cover and pull down. Grab above the cover and with the other hand rotate the cover counter clockwise.

Ours are not held on by spring hangers, rather notches embedded in the lense cover themselves

Yes, ours also are held by notches in the fixture. Some come off easy, others are really hard. Not much to grab onto. I used one of those rubberized grippers that you use to open lids on jars, etc. That worked pretty well. It only takes a slight turn counter clockwise to release the tabs. Maybe in inch at most.

There are notches in the cover, but the whole "can" has spring loaded hangers that keep them flush to the ceiling. So you grab the can and it will pull down so you can get your hand around the cover.

Actually, a very good point was brought up here.......were you talking about the LED lights that are mounted under the cabinets, bathroom ceiling, etc., or the ones that are high up in the ceiling??

The ones we have that are under the cabinets, and the bathroom ceiling are mounted with screws, and definitely do not have any "springs" behind them. I have not had the need to remove one from the ceiling, so don't know if those are also mounted with screws or not....at least on ours. I do know of the "snap in" ones that possibly are being referred to here, I've used them in display cabinets before.

One of my ceiling LED lights in the living room burnt out and the cover won't come off by hand! I tried 2 more by hand for grins and I just got one to come off. Guess I'll have to go and buy an oil filter wrench. Somebody responsible for this glitch ought to be horse whipped. Will report back results of oil filter wrench solution. Thanks.

Happy to report that the oil filter wrench took those damned LED lens caps off like taking candy from a baby.
