Bad MorRyde issue, continued on page 3

We got IS and disk brakes installed and then, in essence, sat at the fairgrounds for a couple weeks. Went to Tiara yesterday to have some work done and it looked like a tire was low. Checked the tire and it was fine so we went to a campground in Noblesville, IN to visit my sister. When we got to the campground the spot was not level at all. When level-up leveled the coach the wheel in front of the one we had thought was low came up off the ground and the other one didn't. Woke up in the middle of the night and realized that the suspension must have failed. NO SLEEP the rest of the night. This morning I checked and sure enough the shear spring was defective. Now MorRyde wants me to bring it back 60 or so miles (basically on one tire) or for me to find someone local who can fix it and they will send me the part (something I don't feel qualified to do). This leaves me limping back up to Elkhart monday and my tire pressure monitoring system crapped out on the trip here (called all over and no one stocks Tire Pressure monitoring systems in Indianapolis). I've got a call in to MorRyde's management and we'll see if anything else can be done. Sure glad the tire I'm ruining is a G614.

Not good. Best of luck with your "limp" back.

Thanks, hopefully we won't get to test out Coach Net while we're at it.

Dick,

You might try Mount Comfort RV Sales and Service. They are located at I70 and Mount Comfort Road on the east side of Indianapolis. That would be closer than a return to Elkhart. I have a friend who has had some work done there and was satisfied with the results. I do not know if they have done any work with the Morryde IS, but a call to check may make the trip less stressful. Phone # (317) 898-6676

I'm beginning to have my doubts regarding MorRyde. Hopefully they read this posting. It turns out they are responsible for the "too short" lug nuts being installed after the brakes were switched to disc. Studs went from 1/2" to 9/16". While in the shop they also damaged my fender which they would not acknowledge. Unfortunately this was almost two years ago. Treadit is sending me the correct lug nuts at no charge.

Good luck on your trip back.

Thanks. Called them and had to leave a message. Before they had returned the call MorRyde arranged for a dealer near here to fix us.

Went up the chain at MorRyde (a benefit of having been wagon master) and they found us an RV dealer 30 miles from here that will do the repairs next week when they get the parts. This dealer also has a campground.

Dick, I would make a real effort to convince the dealer to come to you and do the repair. Even with your G rated tires, putting half the weight of your trailer on one tire will seriously overload it, and while it may handle it now, it may also cause it to fail prematurely at another time.

Sorry to hear about the problems. I hope you get this fixed. My two cents worth, if it is repaired locally I would take the rig back to MoRryde and have them to check the entire system again.

Could not get this done, if the tire survives it's going to trade places with the spare. Another reason to get 5 614's when you get rid of the Marathons.

Good point! We're going to try and do that.

Dick, not that it helps, but I watched them changing the rubber shear springs on a rig while they we doing the retrofit on our Montana. It took longer to get the wheel off than it did to change out the shear spring. Wonder if MorRyde is starting to get rubber from China as this is the second problem on this forum that has been traced to rubber failure in a MorRyde product.

I agree with Jay Bird. I would want the alignment checked after the parts are replaced.

I had heard that as a part of a "Recycle America" program MorRyde was using recycled rubber from old Marathons

What makes it doubly bad is I heard Marathons were using recycled rubber from Mission tires...

Just had our IS realigned on Tuesday the 25th. They did fine work on my rig as they always have. They noted some cracking in the rubber which is normal with age. Our system is 9 years old and has given us excellent service. I can't provide anything but good words for MOR/ryde.

I have found Mor/Ryde more customer friendly and responsive than Lippert. I too agree to take the trailer back to Mor/Ryde if you can. I am sure they will check it all out to make sure it is right.
