We stayed over night a couple of days ago (West Boggs Park Indiana) and the site was so un-level that our curbside wheels were off the ground by 6 inches and that was via manual leveling.

In order for the auto level to work properly the rig has to be sort of level to start with. The book does not tell you that. The shorter the stroke the more stable the rig will be. We still carry leveling blocks and a level on the front of the RV so we can see how level we are before doing the auto level. Consult the book I think the jacks extend 17 or 18 inches then you will get the "out of stroke " error.

You need to be fairly level for the auto level to work auto level does not mean it will level the RV under any conditions.
