Mail

Good day all,
Have been wondering about how you go about mail service. I know that most things can be done right here on the internet but don't you still need a physical address for certain things. And if not how long should you give before you know that you are through with the metal mailbox.

Enjoy and be safe.

Yep. We have a physical address through Escapees. https://www.escapees.com/mail-service/

We have never had a problem with our mail and they have forwarded it to us all over the country.

Same with us. 8 years full timing with Escapee mail service as our mail forwarder with never an issue.

This is a little out of the OPs question. I almost always ship USPS and in over 20 years they have lost 2 packages. One package went to Alaska the other was foreign. The guy in Alaska I sent it to said he knew someone at his post office was stealing his package, gun stuff easy target. The other was across the pond and out of USPS hands.

We had a guy in Florida sent us a package with our company name on it with his address, box number, street, town, zip code and state. Took 3 days for us to get it. That is remarkable service. The people at our post office didn’t have any idea how we got that package. Our shipping bill last year was over $25,000.

We use the PassPort America/Good Sam service out of Crestview, Florida. They have a discount for Good Sam Members.

banks and investment companies REQUIRE a physical residental address since 9/11. some are more intense on this issue. Chase bank and Fidelity forced me to use my sister address for their records.

but you can get a mail service out of texas, florida and south Dakota quite easily.

I use Americas Mailbox out of Box Elder, SD. They take care of all my mail and license plate renewals. Excellent service by very nice people.

Agreed! After much research, we went with Americas Mailbox. I decided on the plan with online mail access. Spendy, but I can review envelopes to decide what I want them to scan to me. If I need to "pick up" our mail, it's sent to us in 3 days via USPS Priority Mail wherever we are. (Pretty much do everything online these days anyway!) They were very helpful in getting our initial vehicle license tabs, too.

We became SD residents over the summer & our "physical" address is our PMB. We're FTers, so it's kinda perfect for us. (Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe SD allows PMBs to serve as "physical" addresses without physical presence, whereas other states don't.) Drivers & vehicle license renewals can be done online, also.

We also use Americas Mailbox and have done so for over seven years. The one exception to your post is, every ten years, you must make your appearance to renew your drivers license. We were passing through for our five year renewal, so just did it in person. Americas Mailbox will alert you when it's getting close for your annual vehicle registration renewals and will take care of that for you. Also, if you are over 65 years old, you will need a South Dakota Department of Public Safety Drivers Licensing Program Vision Statement filled out by a licensed optometrist or ophthalmologist before they will renew your license. https://dps.sd.gov/resource-library/...Statement+-885 Once you have your SD license, you will not need your SSAN document, but it would still be good to bring a few pieces of mail that was sent to your SD address or other forms of proof. Good info at their web site. https://dps.sd.gov/driver-licensing/...ications-forms

they covered the mail service but as for 'physical address,' some banking/financial companies will require a 'real' address and not a commercial address. mail services are listed as a business and not a physical address in their system.

It doesn't happen all the time but you may run into this situation. I have several times with fidelity and chase bank.

Definitely something I will have to look into since I use chase. I would like to use Florida as my residence since I hear they don't require you to be local for 6 months of the year.
