Power outage

2018 Montana 3811MS. Surprise! Getting ready to head out. RV setting next to house plugged in to 50 amp service. Found I have no power. No 12 volt no 110 volt. only thing that comes on is the micro wave???? Batteries are charged. I backed truck up and connected cable. Still nothing. Any suggestions?

It is a stupid question but is your shore power service working? Have you checked it with a volt meter?

Yes, as i said, the micro wave is operating. It displays the time and if i open the door the light comes on. It is 110 power.

What's the status of your main breakers in your coach fuse panel?

Is this 50A service newly installed? Maybe 1 leg not functioning properly. Check WITH METER!

Ok, i checked the service at house and at end of shore power, all okay. Also, i checked the 110 outlets, and they all have power.

Sounds like something tripped. I am not as familiar with the electrical systems as other on this forum so hopefully someone will weigh in soon and give you some help.

Put battery charger on and now have power. I had it stored with battery switch off. So, i guess batteries were completely dead. But, shouldn't it charge off of the converter?

Glad you got power back. Good to know about the batteries. Your question is a good one. How do the batteries get charged? Do they have to be in connect mode to charge? It makes sense that they do but I'm sure someone else will weigh in.

The battery disconnect switch isolates most of the 12V components (including the converter) from the battery. But things like the Level Up, Propane detector, and others? continue to suck power. They will drain a battery in storage. Add a battery disconnect switch at the battery when you are leaving the rig in storage if you don't have electricity available. If you have electric in storage then don't disconnect the battery via the switch in the Convenience Center.

So, is it not necessary to put on battery charger? Will converter now do the charging since battery switch is now on?

I would still let a good battery charger top off the battery. Then let the converter take of it from there.

It will but will take a while. I'd run the charger then let the converter take over. The switch in the convenience center confuses many and causes aggravation to some as well. I installed a battery shut off switch at the battery as when in storage I have no electric. By shutting completely off batteries have maintained a near full charge after 9 weeks.

I appreciate the help from all. My question now is, shouldn't I be able to power up even with no battery? Keep in mind, through all of this I was still hooked up to shore power.

No, that is my question. Why, didn't I have power? Through this entire time i have been connected to shore power. Does this mean my converter is bad?

Sounds like you are missing L1 or L2 on your power. Being your microwave worked and other things did not. If your batteries were down and the converter was on the leg that was different from the microwave then you would not have any 12 volts anywhere.
