Stolen Montana ?

Just got around to submitting this, did not actually know where to put it. We were driving south on I-95 two days after Christmas. We were approaching Brunswick, Georgia and observed a Montana 3400 RL being towed by a dark blue Chevy 2500 with New York plates entering the highway. After about 10 minutes or so they overtook and passed us without even looking towards our truck. No wave hello, or anything. Since we have had the pleasure of meeting a whole lot of you extremely friedly out on the road and at Rallys I am sure these must have been dastardly deed dooers and must have stolen that Monty. No true Montana Owner would ever pass another Monty without at least some kind of acknowledgment

Sorry to say this buy some Montana owners do not acknowledge a fellow Monty owner. This past summer twice I was overtaken by 2 separate Montana's in separate states and in both cases they never once looked over at us and NO they weren't transporters as one had kids bikes on the ladder and the other had a boat in tow.

I would guess that 75% of of the Montana's I meet on the road don't acknowledge my headlight flashing or my wave. Usually I note that they are locked in a dead stare straight down the road. If they always drive like this they are missing a lot of whats going on around them and never realize the number of close calls they have with other vehicles or wild animals.

I've given up flashing my lights at Montanas. The headlights will burn out before I get a response.

I actually have to be very honest -

When I'm driving my steering wheel has a tendency to follow my eyes, and I really have to focus to keep it between the lines. This gets magnified times 10 when towing the Monty, as it is far less forgiving when I drift a little out of line (40' whip back there).

I have no problem waving or flashing lights at oncoming Monties, but when passing or getting passed, I just can't do it. I pretty much have to look straight ahead or in the mirrors while the two high profile vehicles are running parallel at 60mph within a few feet of each other.

In our case, my wife and kids are trained to look over and wave if it is another Montana instead of me

Brad I know just what you mean, where my eyes go so goes the truck. If I want to gawk at something I better do it way out front. Staying on topic I too have about given up flashing my lights at oncoming Montana's. Before they figue out what I want they are long gone.

So we are hurdling down the interstate at 65MPH..here comes a 5th wheel in the other direction..at 65MPH..closing speed of 130MPh.Could that be a Montana???How close does it have to be to see the MONTANA on the nose not to mention it is on the other side of the interstate.I figure I've got 1 maybe 2 seconds to identify the Montana, flash my lights, wave and continue to hurdle. Sorry we never bother to attempt identification. Annnddd....what does this have to do with a stolen Montana???

Glasses... I don't need no stinking glasses..... My License says I should have those on when driving but I never wear them ...been doing it for years and never had a problem. []] Actually Helen points, Calls out MONTANA on approach....and I never make the flash...No reflex action at all.

I normally don't notice Monties coming at me as I am to focused on where I am going. My DW usually makes notice and says something. Have never seen any flashing lights. We also have the CB on and on several occasions have tried to get a response but to no avail. SIL Maybe someday someone will respond. If a Montana passes us, we'll smile and wave! I try to keep aware of anything that is coming up beside me...and I'll notice if it's a Montana long before it pulls next to me. I'll recognize almost any RV coming in the opposite direction on a two-lane road. Less than 25% of the time they will return a signal.

I know the feeling even though I'm still flashing lights. I've had just one return flash and that turned out to be one of our members. Darnit, I can see his face from his avatar but darned if I can remember the name now.

I've got to where I can spot a Montana a long ways off. Occasionally I misidentify one that has a similar decal profile, from a distance. Wildcat, Sunnybrook, and Raptor are the ones that usually get me.
