Sioux Falls to Branson

So Street Atlas tell us to take the I29 South and pick up the 71 in Kansas City and go to Branson. Our 200 or so miles per day didn't exactly put us near campgrounds. Right now I'm thinking a KOA in Gretna, NE and Peculiar Place Park in Peculiar, MO. Anyone have anything bad to say concerning this plan?
Happy trails..............................

Might want to try Precious Moments Campground near Jolpin, MO. Brand new. Also, don't miss the tour of the Precious Moments Chapel and factory. Well worth the time.

Sue, check you map out, there has been some changes in highways. to make the trip a little nicer. 435 lower loop in KC to I think 69 hwy south - just about twenty miles and you hit hwy 13/7 I believe that take's you a quicker way through Clinton, Mo. than 71 four lane most of the way to springfield and then down to branson. MUDCHIEF/OZZ and I run that and it is quicker by a long way. I will double check my highway numbers but I think I am right. Check you latest maps. safe travels John P>S for all the dickens you give me about Kansas, I don't see you staying in Kansas on the way???????? OH Sue why don't you wait until May 2008 and then go to Branson and meet all of us. ho ho ho

OK, SUE I have my correct highway numbers now 435 loop in KC to 71 hwy south. you turn off at Harrisonville hughway 7/13 that will take you through Clinton MO - midway to Springfield all FOUR LANE and smooth road. it runs into 44 top of Springfield you go east about 5 miles or so and hit 69 and it take's you down to BRANSON. As I said we MUDCHIEF.OZZ and I amoung many other's - it is a much nicer and quicker route to BRANSON than stright 71 down. Really hope you enjoy the trip. Safe Travels John

John,
All my Kansas relatives will come to Branson for a family get together. Several cousins live in the Branson area. We will take a couple of day trips up to Kansas so Ed can see where I was born and I can see our former farm.
Steve,
I've been to Precious Moments several years ago. I have an aunt and cousin in Joplin.
Thanks guys.
Happy trails.........................

Sue I hope you and ED have a safe trip and enjoy the family gathering, great place to do it.. Don't forget the highway numbers, it's a lot better road than 71 all the way.

That KOA in Gretna will be a little out of your way. Lake Manawa state Park in Counclil bluffs would be a better place (more convenient). It is right off the interstate near the casinos. Take the 24th street exit and go south (lake Manawa street exit) off I 80 just after 29 and 80 join. (I am sorry I can't give you more specific directions) but it shouldn't be real hard ot find--stop at an Iowa rest stop and they should have campground info.

If we were home you could stay in our driveway.

I thought Sue was staying at the Worlds of Fun Campground. Independence will really be out of her way, traffic, narrow streets....

It is highway 65 from Springfield to Branson MO rather than 69.
The route thru Clinton is the way I would go, but there can be a lot of traffic and some slow going depending on when you go.
Have a safe trip.
