Mid Year Models?

I have noticed that some MOC members list their trailer as a 2005.5 or a 2006.5. Are these different than a 2005 or 2006? I have a 2005 with a manufacture date of 1/27/2005. Does that make it a 2005.5?
Thanks, Ken

I'm not sure but I think it is the trucks that come out with mid-year models. I know the Dodge Ram had a major mid-year upgrade in 2004. Haven't heard of this with the Montana's.

I may be wrong, but I believe that Montana has what might be called a fluid production line. That means they will make an upgrade at any time during the year. So that would mean that a 2006.5 got all the upgrades up to the point of production and the .5 lets you know the point of reference.

You are also going to hear "early" and "late". For instance we have an early 2005. Later in that model year, they moved the furnace, added a shallow cabinet in the island, moved the toilet to face the other way making more open space in the basement. Also changed the overhead cabinets at the rear. And these are just the things I've noticed visiting others rigs at the rallies. So the changes are still in a 2005 but would be a "late 2005". Or maybe 2005.5.
Happy trails......................

Yes Ken, Not sure if it's an official title, but Montana can make signicant changes mid year in production. In 2003 we had a choice on the lot between the early year flat roof or the late design change with a raised roof to increase the bedroom height as well as the basement height.

Thanks everbody for the input. I must have a later 2005 model as I don't have the wood doors between the bedroom and the bathroom like earlier ones did. Probably a cost cutting effort.

If it helps, our 2005 2955 has a build date of 4/28/05. I'm not sure what structural changes it has compared to an early 2005, but its decals are different. For example, the early 2005 models have the same front decal as the 2004 model, the mountain with "Montana" written through the middle of it, while our mountain has "Montana" above it.

The bottom line is what's on the Retail Purchase Agreement and/or the Manufacturer's Statement of Origin. Can't speak for any other states, but all the states I've lived in will give you a title with a single year on it...you won't see 2006 1/2 or 2006.5. Really doesn't make any difference except when you go to sell it and the newer year model might get you a few extra bucks.

Guess it's no different than the midyear change coming for the diesel TV in January - some will have the older engine 2007, the others will have the newer engine 2007.

The 2006 models are good examples of the "mid-year" changes that Montana sometimes makes. The first-half year (June thru Dec or Jan. approx.) had the 2005 graphics colors, regular spring/equalizer suspension, and no centralized water/sewer compartment.

The second-half year models sported the Moryde suspension, the darker graphics, the centralized water/sewer compartment, and the new front cap with the mirror.

In many cases, you don't know what you'll get until it shows up. Sometimes its good, sometimes not so good.

My unit is a Nov. 2006 model. I would have liked to have the Moryde suspension. My wife does not like the new color graphics. I like the extra room in the front bedroom closet that comes with the older front cap. I also like the larger access doors of the early model design, but also like the central water/sewer compartment.
