Wood & Stain color
We have a 2011 Mountaineer 324RLQ on order and have a few things I would like to make for the inside. Does anyone know what wood and stain color they use?

Our 2010 3400RL is the Hickory Edition. They claim that is's solid hickory cabinetry, and I'm sure that this is just the cabinet doors and drawer facing that is solid hickory, and I'm sure there is some type of finish on everything. If it were me, I would call Keystone, I'm sure they would help you out. However, I'm also sure that there is someone out there that has done some wood work updates to their Monty, that will be along shortly...Joe

Already tried calling the factory and they had no clue as they said it is just shipped to them. The unit we ordered is the Hickory addition but the pictures look more like a stained oak?

Mark Krol from Keystone told me they use Pecan stain. It is pretty darn close on a wood comparable to hickory. Close also on oak. On pine or spruce it is a little more yellow. Hope this helps.

When we looked at the new Hickory interiors, I noticed that it was oak stained to Hickory color. I think Hickory wood is a lot more expensive than Oak.
Correct me if I'm wrong....also some of the trim was artificial wood (like a laminate)? Same as Oak trim......

I am not sure but I think it is oak. Hickory is a much harder wood (I have it at home). I don't think hickory would ding the way it does in the Monty.

Ok, called Keystone again today and after being transfered several times they claim they have no idea of the wood type or stain used. They say the cabinets just come the supplier stained and they match the tape? to it. The last person I talked to said she thought it was like a medium oak. So if anyone has made anything wood for the inside could you please tell me what wood & stain you used that was close.

We have a 2010 Montana "Hickory Edition" and I have done a few wood projects on the inside and have matched everything nearly perfect. You really can't tell what has been added and what is standard. Having said that, I don't know if the finish on the cabinets is the same in the Mountaineer "Hickory Edition" as what we have, but here is what I have done.
For the wood, I have used white or red oak (either will work fine). For the stain I have used 2-4 coats of "Dalys Wood Stain" Fruitwood 49 and then seal it with a spray satin poly. Just check your wood tone against one of your cabinets that the wood will be close to between coats of stain to get the best match. I have been using Krylon spray Satin Poly because it dries quickly between coats. If I can provide any more info for you, let me know.
