Second towel bar on the shower door
We have a 2011 3400RL on order can't wait!!!!
Has anyone attempted to install or have installed a second towel bar on the shower door. We talked to our dealer and he said he believes the glass is tempered and holes can not be drilled or it will shatter.
Thanks Eric & Pat

We looked into that for our 2010 3400RL, and went with a hanging unit from Walmart that we placed on the toilet door. It allowed us to hang two towels plus wash cloths and hooks for other items. This placed it within reach of both the shower and sink. I do not remember what we paid for it, but a quick fix to the problem.

We added an extra towel rack in the toilet room so we each have our own. When we are taking our shower, we open the closet door (closest to the shower) and drape our towel over the top. It's easy to grab right outside the shower door. Amazing how we all achieve solutions in different ways. That's what's fun about belonging to the MOC. Once you're in your new 5er, you'll figure out what is best for you. We were told to be careful of our shower door -- not to open it by the towel rack because it could torque and break. We were advised to open by the vertical edge. It was hard to break the habit of wanting to grab that towel bar and pull on it. Have fun with your new toy.

We found an "over the door" towel rack at Target. When assembled it is solid. The ones we have had in the past were wobbly. The over the door brackets fit on the chrome portion of the glass shower wall and I used double stick tape (commerical grade) on the brackets. It hasn't moved in 6 years and thousands of miles. It has 3 bars.
Happy trails..............

Shower enclosure glass IS tempered glass. There should be a label to verify this, usually at the bottom. As such, glass cannot be drilled or cut after tempering. The cutting to size or drilling of holes is done before tempering. Hope this helps.

We keep one towel on the door and the other in the loo....Don't think I would mess with that glass door.
