Wifi booster
It became abundantly clear to me in our first two trips of 2,500 miles each, and about 16 RV parks, that their wifi signal is poor at best. Is their a decent product out there, that ya'll have tried, that boosts the reception of their weak wifi signal? Thanks
Dennis

I have stayed at RV parks where I got good wifi signal and the wifi was still barely useable due to their limited bandwidth. There are boosters available, but don't assume that stronger signal will make any difference in the park wifi speed. Although I am often on the web, I can also go days without it, so I don't worry about it.
Many who need good wifi use various hot spots tied to their phones and will be chiming in on those.

BB_TX is right on no matter what booster you got there is only so much bandwidth and if everybody and their grandma is trying to watch You Tube video's or something nothing will help BUT if your RV is just to far away from the Signal at the office/antenna this will help big time to "Grab" the Signal and go from 1 Bar to 3-4 and has helped me many times in a Big park where sometimes I am far away from the Office it has a 25 ft cord so I can mount it on my ladder or put it on my roof and run the cord thru the window and just plugs into your USB port http://www.ebay.com/itm/USB-Long-Dis...cAAOSwNRdYBqaR ALSO what is cool is the camp WI-Fi sees this Booster as a seperate device so you can transfer it from Computer to computer in you rig so you do not have to pay for 2 connections

I gave up on park wifi. If it works, we'll use it. If not, we've a hot spot and can use our cell phone service for email & stuff. I agree with bigskyjimmy that too many folks just abuse the heck out of limited service & hog whatever bandwidth there is with videos and such. We use Dish for TV and always bring a DVD library for when there's trees blocking it.

X2 on the cell phone HOT SPOT. I almost never even look at the RV park wifi anymore. Just not worth the hassle. For our travels to the West, Verizon has worked very well. They let me up my data needs while I travel and then reduce the subscription when I return to the stick house. I also do not leave the computer on the hot spot--just get on the web, and then shut it down when we have finished.

yeah I am with you guys I have a Verizon Jet pack as it is always fast and secure and the only time I use the Park Wi-Wi and booster I mentioned is when we are getting low on GIGS and just use the Park Wi-Fi for surfing (if it Works)

There are. Several wifi amp up units on the market. I have one and works great, signal strenth not for band width. Pays to look around, prices vary.

Agree with Bigskyjimmy on the JetPack... used it all over the USA and if there is cell signal it works great. Still use it here at the house also as cant see having ComCast landline the same time as cell. I dont need all that speed anymore.

Thanks for all of the input. I agree, people should not be allowed to stream movies at RV parks. Heck I have never done it at home, so i don't even know how. We just like to stay in touch with our kids and grand kids when we travel, and like sending them pics and 30 second videos of where we are. We have i-phones and AT&T, and we reduced our data, so our bill would only be $80/month, instead of the $150/month it used to be. So we don't use our phones unless we have to. We did on our last trip, and AT&T was all over us for exceeding our data, and charged us, and wanted us to up our plan again, and we said no way.

I am amazed that the RV parks are so behind-the-times when it comes to WiFi service. WiFi is now just like water and sewer to many people: Absolutely a "must-have". Imagine if everywhere you stayed had water pressure that was unusable. This is how WiFi is to those of us that actually need it for business use. My wife absolutely needs a solid wi-fi connection for her business, and we have yet to stay in an RV park that is actually suitable. We compare it to hotels we stay in: If they advertise "Free WiFi" it should actually be usable. Hotels have pretty much figured this out. We always have useable service. RV parks advertising the same? Never.

Part of the problem is with the campers who log into wifi and never log out. When you log in you are using one of the camp ground's IP addresses. Once all the assigned IP addresses are being used no one else can log in.
