New TV tires all around - trust but verify.
We just replaced our original Ford factory BF Goodrich tires with Michelin LTX MS/2's. Can't complain about the factory tires. We got 65,500 miles out of them. Probably should have replaced 10K or so ago but we don't drive in questionable weather and we closely monitored pressure and temperatures.
Here's were the trust but verify enters in. When we received the truck back the pressure monitor readings were all over the map from 10 to 25 lbs. under the vehicle door specifications. The dealer rechecked the readings and assured us that his gauge indicated the proper pressure. He showed us a couple of the readings and we concurred that his gauge indicated the proper pressure, leading us to believe that we had a problem with our TPMS. Just to be sure we let the truck sit overnight and rechecked things this morning. We have a cheap Wally World gauge and a professional digital gauge. Readings from both matched the reading on the monitor. Kicked the air compressor in gear and now the pressures are all correct. The moral of the story is that you can't always believe what the professionals tell or show you. Verify for yourself!

You speak truth on that. I have seen too many tire shops with gauges that aren't even close...and there is also the question of how much they care. John

Gauges can and do fail/get out of calibration. I try to replace them in the shop at least twice a year.

Like you I would trust my TPMS before I would trust some gauge in a tire shop. These air pressures are pretty important when pulling a Montana.

One addition to the story: I told the shop manager that the valve caps had to be replaced in the same locations for the TPMS to read properly. Three of the six were in the wrong location. They are now back where they belong.
