Who has installed a Tornado on their black tank??
Thinking of tackling the job of replacing Keystone's worthless non working black tank flusher. No amount of flushing and have replaced the check valve with a straight thru fitting will make it work. So for the $29 I think I will just replace it with the tornado. Had one on my last rig and it worked awesome. So my question is for those who have replaced theirs already, once you got the belly pan off were you able to remove Keystone's junk and use the same hole for the tornado. Or did you drill a new hole for the tornado and just leave Keystone's where it's at and disconect it from the water and plug it?? Just trying to get a little info before I attempt this since I don't really know what is up in there...Thanks

I want to follow this topic for I think I need to do the same. Already did the siphon valve thing. I too feel the flush valve is of poor quality for it does not do a good job.

That's a pretty broad statement. As of last trip we completed 411 nights in our unit and the original flush valve is still working fine! I know some have had issues but not sure you can call it poor quality especially if you are not sure how they have been used or maintained. Jim

In the four years that we have owned our rig, we have never had a problem with the flush. We did remove the anti-siphon valve after finding out from my local RV repair guy that Keystone is the only one who uses them.

For some it may work, if that is what you want to call it, but it will never do the job a Tornado does to flush your tank. Definitly something wrong with mine since water barely goes into the tank. But I have had both and even brand new I doubt the Keystone brand will do the job a Tornado does. Either way I got to replace it so that is why I am asking. I have tried all the remedies from leaving Rid-x in the tank to flushing it like crazy to using one of those wands. Just trying to get an idea what I am in for once I pull the underbelly, and get some first hand experience before I do this....

I'll not directly answer your install question, but here's a link with photos of what it takes to ge the job done. http://www.modmyrv.com/2008/09/28/to...ng-tank-rinser Looks like it's not super critcal where you put it as long as it's on the opposite end from your tank drain. Supplementing NCFishers and jimcol remarks ... I reckon the aformentioned superb performance of the Tornado is like many other things ... until you sample the product, you may be perfectly happy with what you have. 3 years and running on my 3150 with no complaints with the stock tank flusher. Perhaps my production line tech was more vigilant about his install. I camp at the lakes alot, 80% of the time there is no hose end on the water outlet at the dump station so the flush feature has to be ignored. Although using the outside shower hose works in a pinch, it by no means has the power of a city water connection.

OK guys like steel pony said the stock flusher will not perform as the tornado will. I had the tornado on a previous M/H and really liked the way it flushed the tanks much faster and better than a stock unit.
I notice at some dumpstations some rvers do not bother to flush anything-just drop the tank contents and drive off. I at least fill the tank with a few gallons of water for the ride home especially if rvers are waiting in line to dump and finish the job after arriving home.

Well if they used the sealant like in the video dieselguy posted then it appears I will have to drill a new hole and just plug the factory one.....besides if there are screws too then that would be too many holes in one place.....

I have had RV's with black tanks for over 35 years. Knock on wood, I have never had a problem.

Sorry Dave, stayed out of this till you got the help you needed. At our RV home base, in Kansas, we had to install a storm shelter. The tornadoes are delivered and installed all by mother nature with no help from us.

Have you tried some Metamucil in your black tank? It is a great stool softener! I know first hand.

Jeannie's going to be upset with that tornado if she's using the facilities when all the tornado chasers show up and want to take video.

How well does the "Icecube" trick work in the black tank? My gauge shows it 2/3 full when it is empty.
