Vacation Cut short

Our vacation to Yellowstone, Mt. Rushmore, Crazy Horse and alot more places was cut short because someone decided to break into our house and steal our safe and break into another one. They took everything pink slips on our vehicles, truck, car, trailer, mom's van and mom's car. Took all the jewerly in the safe which was a whapping $60,000, because I take care of my mother and I didn't want to leave her jewerly at her house beacuse she has 24/7 care I brought it all home and put in into my safe. They also got my mother's will, my power of attorney for her as well as her funeral arrangement papers. They also got my mother in laws will, power of attorney for her, her ID, her funeral arrangements which we just took care of. Plus alot of cash, Silver dollars, coins everything you put into a safe to keep safe. Oh and we have an alarm and no one heard a thing.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I don't fulltime but do leave sometimes for a couple of weeks, and this is a real concern of mine. I have a surveillance system but you never know how good it is until something happens. Hope you had good insurance and contact the credit agencies and put a block on all new credit requests.

Sounds like someone who knew of your plans! Consider your "inner" circle.

Yes we have been racking our brains trying to figure out, but these people used gloves and left no finger prints. But one of our neighbors did tell us that a pick up with rack and ladder with two guys in it were coming up the street from our direction at about 4:30 - 5:00 am, and that truck didn't belong in our neighborhood. We live in a cul-d-sac at the end of the street. So we are going to go up to the fire station at the end of the street to see if they have a surveillance system.

Horrible thing to have happen. Hope they're caught and you can recover some of the loss.

We too know the feeling of someone taking other's important things. The things that hurt the most were those that could not be replaced at any cost. We hope your things are recovered. Our's weren't.

This is terrible, so sorry to hear this. Hopefully they will be able to catch those thieves very soon and recover all of your belongings.

Somethings are irreplaceable....

Just replacing all the legal documentation is a major effort. Very sorry to hear it happened.

Debbie and John, we are sorry to hear of your losses. We hope the perps are caught and dealt with severely. Hopefully you had the valuables insured so your losses are at least minimal. There is nothing worse than a thief invading your privacy.

Sure sounds like a inside job to me. Have you had any contractor work done in or around the home. Anyone in or around the home that would not normally be there.

Did you post here, on Facebook, or other social media that you were gone from home?

So very sorry to hear about this. Please consider installing cameras for next time, pray there's not a next time, but ...... Not just the kind that record, but the kind that also send an email with pictures when they detect motion. We had an incident, not to the extent of yours, but bad enough. We got an email with pics of our grandson doing something he was not authorized to do. I'm not going into details, he thought he could just unplug the cameras, but they had already sent damaging photo's of him breaking in, to us over 1000 miles away. I'm thinking like others here that it sounds like an inside job. Good luck in the future.

Man, this just plain sucks! I can't imagine the anquish and recovery time.

When I was a teen with my first car, it was broken into and the cheap stock radio in the console was CUT out of the car. I felt terrible about it for quite some time that someone could be so callous and imposing, but they are out there. I can't even imagine the caliber of anxiety in your case. We pray things get better soon and that you get through the horrible feelings of this violation. Oh my!

We are sorry to learn this news. Hopefully you have insurance to recover some portion of the money value. We have had this happen back when young and struggling to make ends meet. It was our next door neighbors that were renting the other half of the duplex. We tracked them them back to their door through the snow (not real smart crooks). One of the three turned on the other two and got $500 cash from our insurance company and no jail time. The real loss for us was the invasion of our privacy. Hope you get them.
