Shower Water Pressure
I have an Oxygenic shower head for years and it is great. I recently replaced the faucet in the shower with a new one from a local RV store. It seems the water pressure is low--should I look for a residential faucet fixture or is there something restricting the flow in the Monty? I addition--I replaced the kitchen faucet with a residential model--great water pressure and it is great!

Sometimes their are water saver insert that is normaly easily removed

Tim-- My guess is that the new faucet set up for the shower that you put in has a restrictor somewhere in the line or faucet itself. They do that because of the amount of units that are boondocking now-a-days and they don't use the water up in the tank as much. Check the outlet on the faucet and see if there might be a restrictor in it.

Thanks for the tips. I dis-assembled the plastic faucet yesterday. The design is made for low flow. The simple shut off design has a metal plate with a hole that is about 80% of the size of a pencil eraser for the water to flow thru. That is the restrictor--can't be removed or you will not be able to turn off the water! So, I will search a few Lowe's for a residential replacement. Keep you posted on progress--and I got it back together!

I thought about drilling a larger hole BUT the hole is offset from the center. So the most I could do would be a small increase--maybe 10-15%. Still have to check the big box stores!

Tim, What you are describing sounds exactly like the stem Delts is using in their residential faucets. (Looks cheap but works) Were you able to look at the inside of the new faucet where the hose attaches. I would think if they were to put a restrictor that would be the place. One restrictor would take care of the hot and cold. Just a thought. Jim

I had it dis-assembled down to the O-rings. No restrictors in the hose attachments -- I agree with you and I expected to find some there. But no go on that! The faucet is a simple mechanism--less than a full 360 degree turn will align the hole in the plate with the water flow from the hose. Residential faucets have a screw design that you open the faucet about 5 turns to get full flow. Still looking!

I agree with the 5 turn stems on the old washer and seat type faucets. Most the new ones that use the valve you described are only quarter turn. Looks like your stuck getting a new faucet. Jim
