DISH HD TV

I have upgraded my OLD televisions to HD--used Morryde mounts--looks and rides very well. I upgraded my antenna to the Wingard 1000.2 (110,119,129)Antenna and 2 separate Dish VIP211z receivers. I am trying to find the correct switch to connect the 3 LNBs to the 2 receivers to get HD. Does anyone else have this set up? What switch did you use? I set up my antenna on the ground and point it to the satellites--works for me.

Tim,
I don't think I ever selected the switch. It should be automatic if I recall. Remember that you need separate feeds from the dish to each receiver with no splitters.

From my checking it looks like the Dish DPP44 Switch is required to allow the 110,119, and 129 LNB to provide HD programming to both receivers. I currently have the antenna 119 connect directly to a receiver. Some HD comes thru but the receiver connected directly to 110 does not work. My conversations with DISH indicated I had to have the 129 connected to both receivers to get all the HD programming. So--I am getting the DPP44. Let you know how it works.

When we had the Travler dish installed 1 1/2 years ago by CW in Las Vegas, I called Dish to set up the account. They had to walk me through the settings for the receivers to see all three LNB's, as the receivers were only programed to see one from the factory. I don't recall the steps, but a call to Dish tech support will get you working. Be sure to tell them the system is on an RV.

That seems really strange to me. My old satellite is in the attic but I don't remember needing any switches, certainly notihng on the order they are telling you. I power 3 receivers at home with 3 coax feeds from the dish. I don't believe there are any hardware switches what so ever.

I had 2 vip211's hooked up to my rv, dish on a tripod with 2 coax feeds to each receiver....no hardware switch that I'm aware of.

Are you setting this up on a tripod? It seems to me that your not hitting all the satellites with your setup.

I only have a tripod! The Dish Tech guy indicated that my Check Switch test shows the 129 satellite was not getting to either receiver and it carries HD programming. The 129 is not connected to anything from the antenna. From my research as well as talking to local satellite installers--the switch is necessary for my setup. So--I will let you know what happens. Basically my RV setup is the same as any house--fixed antenna on a tripod and 2 separate HD receivers. I do get HD programming on the one receiver in the living room but the bedroom receiver connected to 110 cannot get the full programming that we are paying for.

I have had that happen too and it was never hardware! After much struggle, I got a hold of an installation manual. I was making several mistakes when setting up. What I learned is that to get all three satellites, I needed to have the mast perfectly level and perfectly plum. To do so, I used a 6" torpedo level (the bubble level was not sufficient). I checked it on the mast only (no dish attached) using 4 different points. Then I did the same vertically, again reading the level at 4 points on the mast.

After I had the mast level on the tripod, I adjusted the elevation and azimuth while the dish was on a table. BTW, I used the Dish install manual with 3 digit zip codes to set the elevation and azimuth. That always seemed to work just fine for me.

After it was set, I lowered the dish onto the mast and tightened it fully. My tripod allowed me to rotate it slightly before I clamped it down fully but the nuts on the shaft we tight. Then I started to look for signal. I did use the Dishpointer AR app on my iphone for approximate location.

Trying to get satellites from 110-129 can be tricky, but I found that once I took the time to make sure the mast was perfect, I got them almost immediately. The other trick was never to try to adjust the elevation or azimuth when the dish was mounted.
