A new record!!

Just got Dish working in less than an hour and only 2 calls to Dish!! Wow!!

Usually it takes 2+ hours and multiple phone calls to tech support who tell me to unplug and restart it again for the umpteenth time. Use the POS tripod dish which inevitably locks on to the wrong satellite using the published settings for the location. Adjusting to the correct satellite guessing how much to rotate and/or change elevation will eventually work.

Per the "fraud prevention" person I just talked to they have done away with their "RV department" with specialized rv knowledge. That might explain why they want me to pay for the several months since the last time we used it before the will restart the service. Then next month after not paying since we are not using it will get a really nasty email that they are turning my account over to collections for non payment.

Despite numerous complaints during all the phone calls to Dish they never acknowledge nor correct they above.

Rant off, I feel better now.....

Wow, sounds like I will stick with Directv and our autoseek satellite dish. Hate to hear your troubles, but I will use it as confirmation that what we have is the right way for us to go.

I just set the Dish tailgater on the front slide pointing a southerly direction, turn on tv and reciever and within minutes start watching tv. I also shut the slide valve off just so someone doesent ry and compress the tailgater. Easy as pie in a dish

I also fought that tripod dish for a long time before I bought a Tailgater. Sure made life easier. The small marks on the tripod for elevation and skew and the small bubble for leveling are somewhat suspect anyway.
But even with the Tailgater, occasionally it seems to have a hard time finding the sats. Tech support would always recommend the unplug/replug sequence to reboot it. But I found that just holding the power button for 10 seconds to cause a restart worked better than the unplug/replug method.
Since they advertise the monthly pay only when you use it plan on the dishformyrv.com site, why are they requiring back pay? Or is it not the RV type account?

I talked to an RV tech on the phone yesterday so I think they are still in existence. I use them whenever I change locations to get the local channels since if you tell the folks in Pakistan you want to change your service address they don't know what an RV is and try to schedule a service call. I've been told that my phone # is supposed to trigger a transfer to the RV techs if they're not busy. That part I'll wait to see when it happens.

We live in Ontario and have a Bell TV (nee Express-Vu) HD receiver. We have been using the tripod dish with two LNB's. I'm sick of the difficulties of acquiring a signal, similar as described by gelswick. I've been researching various options for a self-aiming dish, stationary-only. While at an RV show yesterday, I happened upon the Ontario rep for Winegard and other satellite equipment brands. I learned that the FCC has banned Bell from aiming their satellite signal into the USA. This is apparently in retaliation for Canada's CRTC banning American networks from aiming signals into Canada, to protect Bell's turf. So, while the Winegard Mission rooftop dish is mostly network-agnostic, so it will receive Bell and Dish easily, we can't get our Canadian Bell signal in our American travels. This makes an expensive dish less attractive. We've also heard that we can get some kind of short-term receiver rental deal while in the United States. Does anybody have any knowledge about this or ideas about our situation?

I also subscribe to Dish Network and use a surveyor's tripod with a standard 1000.2 dish. Takes me 10-15 minutes to plumb tripod, mount dish, and lock on to sat 119. Fine-tune 119 to 70+ signal and 110 & 119 fall into place and I receive all channels to include HD. What is hard about this? Cost minimal.

Dave go to this website " http://rfmogul.com/about-us.html " and you will find their phone number and some other information. Call Royal Lamb personally and present him with any questions regarding Bell and Shaw. He will know what the status is at this time in the area.
He is very easy to talk to and has been lots of help to me and I don't own his system, my Sister does. I have the Wineguard Traveler.

In a couple of weeks I will know from my sister if they are getting shaw on their dish in Yuma, will keep you informed. I know you don't have Shaw but it might be an option.

My understanding is they cannot change the footprint of existing satellites, they can control who receives the signal through software on the receivers however. These cable companies run roughshod over us wherever they think they might loose a dollar. There is little or no protection for the consumer.

Dish isn't calling them RV techs anymore they're advanced techs or something similar. If you just call and tell them you need to talk to someone who knows about RV's you'll get to the right folks.

Just received the usual collection notice from dish for non pay after using the RV 6 weeks ago. Was hung up on twice before I got to someone that answered. Explained once again that I have an RV account and he said it is not marked as such and I must not have informed them of that on opening the account. I assured him I did and many times since then to anyone who would listen and still get the collection notices for non pay. He assured me that this is a Special Promotion Deal!! In other words he did not have a clue like so many other "RV Specialists".

Getting the Shaw signal is NOT a problem here in Bullhead City, AZ!

Same in Yuma and other area's, the original two sat signals are available, the new one is not as was expected. I have heard they will not support you down there but that is not my first hand knowledge.

not sure if I understand everything that has happened, but if you don't use your receiver for a month or so DISH sort of "deactivates" your receiver and you have to call to get it "reactivated".

Directv will do the same, a few weeks of not using and they deactivate. I have never been able to get reimbursed for the down time, or the aggregation of dealing with their customer service
