Front A/C
Our A/C died abd we are considering adding a front a/c when we get the rear one replaced. We are unsure whether to put in a ducted that already has the control board installed so we could use it with our present thermostat or go with one the is manualy controlled and only blows into the front bedroom. Any opinions are appreciated. It's 87 today. Probably ought to get moving on this. No warranty involved.

I would duct it if you have the option. You can still open the bedroom dump when the bedroom is the primary focus.

We have a non ducted front A/C. Only time we ever use it is after a hot travel day. Then we run it until the trailer cools down enough to be comfortable and then turn it off. Once the trailer is cool the rear A/C generally keeps it cool even in very hot temps the next day. A few times we have turned it back on if the temps go over 100, but again turn it off as the sun goes down.

Wouldn't be without our front ducted one. Keep the dump almost closed in the daytime and it helps the rear one. Have it full open at night for sleeping comfort.

Would go for what we have now, a ducted one with dump valve. The new rear will appreciate having a companion to share the load. John

I would go with ducted unit, double check and confirm your unit is pre wired for power and a remorse thermostat.

I put the Mach 8 in non ducted and it works better than our back ducted system. With both working it made a huge difference in Eastern Wa this summer. I also put a heat strip in for the future.

Ours are both ducted as well. We like to run the just the bedroom A/C with the door shut for a much quieter atmosphere. I also added 5 extra ducts to the system which improves cooling effectiveness greatly. 4 in the kitchen/living room, 1 extra in the bedroom. The only down side is we get a lot more condensation inside and outside.

We have the second a/c but not ducted. Don't believe it's an available option in the mountaineer. Definitely go with ducted if you can. Also go with a low profile A/c unit as ours front unit is the same as the rear and given that the front of our unit is higher than the back when towing it adds a lot to our overall height.

We wouldn't be without 2 ac's, both ducted. When our rear ac went out in Charleston this summer (when it was 100 degrees), we were able to still have some ac. Also, we run the bedroom during the day while in the living room, and run the living room ac while sleeping to keep noise levels down.
