I can't wait to see it and hear it. I hope it will be a little bit quieter.

Note they will not post fuel effeciency numbers..I say if they knew they were better they would be marketing that in HUGE letters...we shall see.

I am with Rich on this, if it's that much better market folks would be all over that. Or at least I think they would be.

I am wondering about the fuel itself. All the pumps I am see with the new ultr low sulphur say to NOT burn in 2007 and newer vehicles. Does this mean they will have a seperate fuel or am I misreading the information on the pumps?????

This subject is confusing. LSD (500 PPM sulfur) is what we have been getting at the pump. The EPA requires a 97 percent reduction in the sulfur content of highway diesel fuel from 500 ppm to 15 ppm in 2007. ULSD fuel requirements started to take effect June 1, 2006 for fuel refiners and fuel importers, storage terminals on July 15, 2006 and for retail stations and wholesalers by September 1, 2006.

It is possible that some stations could sell both. In California Sept. 1 is the cutoff date for the LSD. The other states the time line for total ULSD is to be sold is later. With the 2007 model vehicles on the road between now and then these signs should read that LSD (500 PPM sulfur) is not to be used in the 2007 vehicles because of the converter or what ever is they are using to burn off the excess soot. In short, if you are not driving a 2007 diesel, just fill up and go on about your trip.

This is my understanding of the situation. If it is not correct, someone please offer the correct explanation.

"2007" model is misleading to a degree. There are new 2007s on the showroom floor, but they have 2006 engines and can use LSD. Jan 1 will be the real 2007 date, but who knows? Maybe they'll put a label inside the fuel filler door on what can go into the tank. Glad we have a 2006.

The signs I've seen say not to burn the low sulphur diesel in the 2007 models. But ultra low sulfur is what they are to used. Filled up today for the first time with ULSD.

See another Montana or Mountaineer on the road? Flash lights twice, it might be one of us!

You need to tun at least three tanks of ULSD to purge your tanks and get a good reading of MPG on the ULSD..Don't even bother with the first two fill ups.We have been using ULSD in our school busses since June 1st and we all note a @2mpg drop in fuel milage. These are international diesels and Duramx diesel. It sure burns cleaner.

I have also heard that there is an approximate 2mpg drop with the use of USLD in the current diesels and the new 6.4 is supposed to get a 2 to 5mpg increase. Interesting.
