slideout hydraulic fluid level

I can't remember if I check the fluid level with the slides in or out in my 2006 3500RL. I would have checked the manual, but I seem to have misplaced it! Thanks in advance for your help.

I believe Lippert instructions say with slides in and jacks up, as fully retracted will pull all the fluid back into the reservoir. My system i check to be within 3/4" of the fill usually after i am hooked up attached to the truck before we depart on our trip.
I've not had any leaks so mine is consistent. Our old unit when new needed fluid so i added anti stiction quart as recommended by Lippert.
Hope this helps

My exact procedure and I also added the Anti Stiction fluid. Got Maxima 55901 fork oil from Amazon. https://www.amazon.com/Maxima-55901-...5&sr=8-20&th=1

Put a piece of tape on your tank and mark the full line as described above (everything retracted).
Mark another line with everything out (setup).
Date it. You can use that line as a baseline to watch for leaks.

Marked the reservoir for different conditions

I too added anti-stiction fluid. Once full with slides in and all jacks up, I took a Sharpie and marked right on the reservoir "Full" with a line. With just the front jacks down, made another mark at that fluid level with "Front Jacks". I then opened the slides and leveled-up and put a third mark "all open" to indicate the lowest level it should show. That way I can check the level if towing, in storage, or on the campsite, to see if it needs fluid or there is a possible leak.

Also, periodically check that the resevoir and pump are secure. Mine dropped off the framing after the bolts vibrated out after a couple of years of travel. Used some locktite to put back up.
