Mice

Think we may have a dead mouse in the fifth wheel. We put the dog in and she goes right to the floor vent adjacent to the island in the kitchen. I do detect the odor when I inspect the same location. Hubby says no way can there be a mouse in the duct work, but the odor is detectable in that floor vent. Any thoughts out there from mice detectives?

You can get a borescope that connects to your phone or laptop and put the camera down the vent or any other suspect location.

Had the same issue years ago. Mice can get into the belly area unless all the entry points like levelers are sealed. And guess how they put heat into the belly,,,by at least one 2 inch furnace run into the tanks area and no, keystone does not put a wire screen cone on that run. So i had mice go up that and into the heat exchanger, which also feeds the duct under the floor leading into kitchen and living room. What i did was build a cardboard square tube over one of the floor ducts with a fan on top to pressurize the duct so that all smells go through the system and out the furnace inlet outside. I also sprayed an aerosol in through the fan to aide in clearing out dead mouse and mouse urine smells.

While our '14 HC has a full counter, can assure you that those little beasties can get in via a 1/4" x 1/2" spaces. With ours, they evidently came up past the supply or sink drain piping. I filled the space around that piping with steel wool and Great Stuff low expansion foam from Home Depot. Regular steel wool works though there is a special rodent proof version available but is expensive.

I've gone to the point of not only sealing any and all holes underneath, even put bolts in the landing gear adjusting holes (we don't have self leveling) plus putting aluminum window screening on the back side of the furnace cold air return grilles. Mouse free mow - finally!
