Colorado Route Questions
We’re planning a trip east, spending a week in the Delta CO area and have a few questions about routes from there for a few side trips before moving to another area of the state. If anyone’s familiar with the following routes I’d appreciate a response regarding road conditions for solo trips and towing the Montana.
A loop from Delta via SR 92 & SR 133 through Glenwood Springs, then west on I 70 to SR 65 back to Delta, solo.
A loop from Delta via SR 92 to Gunnison, then SR 135 to Crested Butte. There appears to be an unpaved road from Crested Butte over Kebler Pass back to SR 135 north of Paonia. Is it advisable solo?
I 70 eastbound from Grand Junction to the junction of SR 119, then north to Golden Gate State Park, towing.
From Delta east on SR 92 through Gunnison, picking up US 50 to Pueblo, towing.
Thanks,
Don

Delta to Glenwood via SR 92 & 133 over McClure pass-OK-Solo. You could probably tow this route without any problems.
Delta to Gunnison via SR 92, to Crested Butte via SR 135, back to SR 133 via Keebler pass. SOLO ONLY!!!
I70 to SR 119 Towing is possible but road is twisty and will probably have a lot of traffic because it leads to Black Hawk (gambling). Buses run this road all the time.
Delta to Gunnison via SR92. Partial dirt road and not advisable to tow.
PS! If you plan to stay at the campground East of Delta on Sr92, be prepared for coal trains coming through right next to the campground at all hours.

ARJ,
Thanks for the information. I'm sure it will help us to make a decision in picking areas to drag the Montana. I do know you've convinced us not to stay in Delta!

Because I live in the area, I am not familiar with too many CG's but there is one close to me in Grand Junction that I think is rated 5*. It is the RV Ranch. (970-434-6644) About 40 or so mi from Delta. There is also one just outside of Hotchkiss on the way to Paonia, mostly working folks, clean, spacious, quiet. Forgot the name.
