Gage for Propane Tanks

Does anyone know of a GOOD gage for the propane tanks? I have the type that is magnetic that goes on the side of the tanks and they are garbage. I want a real gage that will tell me when I am getting close to being empty.

I have not seen any gauges that work very well on the propane tanks. My procedure is check the switching valve occasionally and if it is red, the tank that is on line is now empty and you are using from the second tank. I refill as soon as possible, that way always seven gallons of propane on hand.

Don't know if it's good yet ,but I found a gage called Gaslow, model AD-2G, for gas grills, RV's, and boats, at my dealer. Here's a picture , lower right, called a GasGard instead of Gaslow. Looks the same and has the same model number.

I went and purchased a new tank with a gage on it, I use it as my secondary tank on the cirb side of the 5er.

I don't use a guage on the unit as it switches over and I just keep my eye on the red/green indicator. I do use one on my bbq and I got it from CW. It is similar to the one mentioned above.

We do use gages sold at CW. If you decide to add them to your Montana, you will have to replace the gas line for a longer one on the passing side of your Montana. I am aware that the automatic change over will tell you when the tank is empty, but the gages will let me know when one tank is getting low. That allows me to have it refilled at Flying J's that sell prophane by the lbs when traveling.

I use the switch on the valve and do not use the automatic switchover feature. That way I know exactly when I have an MT tank.

I use the "feel the tank method" If I run my hand from the top of the tank down the side, the tank will become very cool where the gas is in the tank. It works even better if the door is open and sun is hitting the tank a few minutes or pouring hot water on the tank and then running my hand down it. So far this method has been reliable.

I use a remote indicator in our bedroom that flashes a light when the red flag goes up. It used to be available at Campers Choice but Camping World bought them out and does not plan to offer that indicator. I emailed and asked. I think someone found a similar indicator somewhere on the internet.
