Goodyear came thru!

About a month ago I posted on here that a Marathon tire exploded on our Montana on the way back from the beach. I contacted Goodyear, the tires are 3 years old but have less than 3000 miles on them and look new. I filed a claim with them and sent the tire for inspection and today they notified me they will send a check for compensation for the tire plus my deductible on my insurance. I was quick to be upset about the tire so I wanted to let everybody know they made it right and I will be replacing them all with Goodyear G614's.

Goodyear does go out of their way to make things right, it's just a shame that manufacturers put them on big rigs even though experience should have told them not to. Not Goodyears fault they just sold them.

Congratulations, GY has a reputation for making it right. They did for me a couple years ago as well. Softened the blow a bit when I went with the G's. You'll be happier now without the tires to worry about. The G614 will give you peace of mind on the road. Priceless...

We were told at the spring rally at Seven Feathers that all Montana's coming off the line now have G614s on them. I hope this is true as a lot of folks have had problems with the Marathons.

The one thing I don't understand about my Montana. The tag on the side says it can weigh 14,400lbs. So why did they put 6000lb. axles under it?????

We had three flats on our 2010 within 1 1/2 years with the last one causing major damage to the driver's side. The first two were slow leaks and I was warned by my tpms but the last one was a complete blowout and the tpms had no time to warn me. I had a history with the marathons and Goodyear made good on the first two failures, but I was livid with the last failure and damage not to mention our lives in danger due to these flawed tires! I made a deal with Goodyear to get five g614 tires with credit for the marathon on the rig and still came out 800.00 to the good. I did the repair to the body damage myself with the only parts needed was the wheel well fender molding needed. Never a problem again and had the dealer take our trade in g614's and install them on our new 2016 3711fl. A word to the wise- GET RID OF THE MARATHONS!!!

It's because DOT is OK with the new trailer being shipped with tires suitable for the unloaded weight (lower cost, higher profit). They are in no way responsible for you loading up a 1200 pound Snap on tool box, 60 pounds of propane, and 2000 pounds of rocks heisted from the national forest.

14.4K - 15% on the pin = 12.24K on the axles.

New trailers being equipped with G 614s is a result of negative customer satisfaction. (and it took a while!)

We were just looking at Montanas at CW in New Hampshire and none had Marathons or G614s but they did have E rated tires.
