F350 electric mirror needs repair

Is there a way to open up the mirror to fix it? My drivers side mirror won't extend unless I help it by pushing it and won't come in unless I pull it. I can feel the motor trying but as I say, needs help. I've tried shooting in lube but no better. I need to open up the mirror casing.

I think you can get to the working parts by taking the mirror off. Open up the door and you can see the screws holding it on. Take it off and clean and oil it and it should be good to go. My truck has them but I've never had them off.

From what I have read there is no repair to be done. It is an expensive replacement item.

BUT. Here is a link where someone described opening his up.

I had to have mine replaced. There are no parts available from Ford at the time.

Try 1A auto in Olathe Ks for replacement mirrors at a reasonable cost They also have many videos on replacing many parts and their service is excellent

I have replaced both sides, I hit a turkey at 65mph that took out the right one and had issues similar to yours with the left. Both were covered by insurance or extended warranty but they were over $1K each if I would have paid.

Ford should recall the telescopic mirrors. I have a Ford F250 and they stopped working 1 month out of warranty. Told they need to be replaced and if I reme ber it was around $1,000 plus. Ripoff!!!

Been there done that! Caught a buzzard on passenger mirror at 65mph coming back from fishing! After my fishing buddy caught his breath he said “wow that thing had a 3’ wing span” about ten miles down the road it had a 6’ wingspan. At that point I had to say at that rate it will be a Teradactile by the time get home 😂! But so funny when I got the $400 bill! And when I picked it up the front of the mirror had bugs on it. I asked about it and they said the front chrome trim would cost extra!!!!
