Larger propane tank

Not sure if this has been discussed before. It is mainly for people that stay for an extended period in one place. I have a 100 gallon propane tank hookup up to my 3380 so that I don't have to worry about running out of propane. The company deliveries on a regular basis so I don't even have to worry about getting it filled.

You're one of many who do that when staying in the colder areas for long periods of time. Thanks for reviving this idea.

That is what I wanted to do for our winter in Central Texas. However, when I went to the local propane service, he said they neither rent, sell, or service less than 300 gal tanks and soon will be only 500 gal tanks. He is the only game in town, but will fill the RV tanks if they are brought the company fill site. The price to fill the standard 7 gal tank is $21.

Find another propane dealer. Hopefully they aren't the only game in town.
I got mine years ago at a propane dealer.

Not to be critical or anything but I hope they actually meant ......100 lbs. instead of 100 gal. as that would be pretty hard to move even only one quarter full.

I can buy a 100 pound tank at Costco/Price Club. It will give sufficient propane in below zero weather to run everything in a Montana. It can be filled at any filling station that has the hose for built in tanks such as in a motor home. It is easy to handle if you roll it on its edge slightly leaned over. My neighbor has two which we took in my utility trailer and had filled this fall. Last time I checked it was $120.

That would be great if one wanted to pick up a 100 lb tank and put it into the bed of a truck, then unload it back at the unit. At least here, no one will come fill it for you at your site. In their mind it is too small to merit a service call.

As for me, I don't do 100 lb lifts any more. The awkward shape and risk of back injury are too geat at my age.

Local propane outfit here in AZ will fill them for you. They even carry a couple of 100 lbs tanks on the truck.

Actually it is a 120 gallon vertical tank. I just looked it up on their site. This is not one that you would load up into your car. It would have to be filled on site. Anyway I think a company can be convinced if they see how much business they are loosing. There are probably 30 people in my park that have the large tanks. Just work out an ROI for the propane company.. It wouldn't be hard if you talk to some of the other residents and see if they would go for a bigger tank.

30 tanks @ lets say 75 gallons per month @ $2.00 a gallon. Let's just say they are missing out on $4500 per month plus tank rental. Of course they will probably say that they are selling it to you anyway because your buying it from someone they sell to.

All prices are subject to change without notice...

I bought my 100# tank at Tractor Supply for $90 last year. I fill it up once a month over the winter and it sure beats taking out those small tanks every other week to get filled.
