50 Amp Plug

Yesterday we lost power in the Montana. After checking everything I found a hole burnt in the plug. the neutral wire had come loose and shorted. I got it going and then went to town and got a new plug.
I bought a 30 to 50 amp adapter as it was cheaper than just a 50 amp female plug. I took it apart and installed the new plug onto the cable.
I will now take the plug apart yearly and tighten all the wire screws.
New 30 to 50 adapter $114.00 with Tax.
New 50 amp plug $130.00 plus tax
I suggest keeping the wires tight.

Next time your around the plug get your soldering gun and coat the wires with solder or (tinning the wires). This will give you a tight bond. The braided wire wants to smash and loosen has we plug and unplug the cord.

I had the neutral come off and marry up with one of the power legs...made 180 volts on one side and 60 on the other. Things started to smoke!

That's why I changed over to a 90 coming out of the back of the rig. Now my line isn't baking in the sun and trying to pull itself apart.

What kind of adapter is that that is so expensive? I'm thinking of a 30-50 amp I have that was like $20. Just curious.

All the female plugs are expensive for 50 amp. I bought the adapter to go from 30 amp cable to 50 amp plug in on the back of the Montana. It was the plug on the end of my 50 amp cable that shorted.
When I get home I will soldier the wires.
