50amp no 30amp yes
I plugged in my 50amp cord and half the trailer is dead, no air conditioners, fridge or living room tv, do have microwave. Post is good csurge protector shows good until I plug in, then it shows no power on one leg, I can plug direct(no surge protector) still no power(half power). I checked the 2 main breakers and only have power coming in to one of them. If I plug into 30 amp with adapter I have power to both breakers. I have checked the power cord for power and continuity its good. HELP :-)

Try flipping off the power-pole breaker, then back on. Looks like they have a leg out on the park power.

Not a problem on the post, checks good with meter and surge protector, also tried post next to me(it has class a hooked to it with no issue) but the same problem occurs, not a post problem.

Sounds like a similar problem we had at a campground we tried in Winter Haven a few weeks ago...bottom line is that we believe the power input from the power post was faulty from the 50A plug. We received advice from this forum to try the 30A input and if all seemed to be well, the power pole would be the likely culprit. Since we were already home and plugged in here prior to getting this advice, we were not able to try it out, but since the "problem" seemed to disapear when plugged in at home, the power pole theory seems to be the answer.

Not a post problem. This has been verified with plugging another coach into it, meter and progressive surge guard.

John-- I'd check your power cord then and see if you are getting both legs through it to the Monte. If not it has to be a loose connection within the plug male part of the plug in. If not that, I'm sure an electrician will be along here shortly and give you more advice!

Visually check the connections on the ends of your cord. A meter might show the cord to be good but a loose connection may not conduct current under load.

Let's see, the power pole checks out and the cord checks out... Here's some more ideas...
Check each breakers in the rig and resetting any GFCIs at the outlets.
If none of this works you might have to crack open the power panel and look for loose wires. Don't forget to disconnect from the power pole when doing this part.
"Buzz out" the CBs in the power panel to identify the good ones and bad ones, disconnect power, then swap them out and recheck. I've been known to find errant CBs this way.
The last thing I can think of is have you been RVing around any rodents? They love the taste of the insulation these days and have been known to gnaw off it off.
We have a few electricians in the MOC and they should be along soon for other ideas.

LOL electrician have come out the woods. Cord checks fine both continuity and power, I pulled male out of coach and can not get the white cover off the back of it(two guy holding and twisting the white cover) it appears to twist, unscrews, off.

Yep, but Jim Fischer is the REAL electrician, sounds like you are doing pretty good at running down the problem, sometimes is isn't as easy as it could be.

Thanks Art, I had read your earlier post and have pulled the panel cover and checked all connections. OK there. The thing is 30amp adapter puts power to both main CB's but only one on the 50 amp the other one has no power coming into it.

Ozz, I do a lot of electrical trouble shooting on my job. But this thing has got me stumped, has anyone removed the white cover on the male plug on the trailer, I can't get that to break loose, I am trying to locate a couple of channel locks, you wouldn't think it would be that tight.

Well, mine is yellow, and there are 3 screws on the end where the prongs are, unscrew them and the sheath pulls back. They all have about the same method. One reason your may be tight is that the wires are burned and expanded.
Couls you send us a picture of the end?

I think you are right on the three screws, I am currently away from the rig. I will keep you posted.

I had a hot wire come off INSIDE the end of the Montana cord plug going into the power stalk, and marry up with the neutral. Things were smoking inside since on leg had 60 amps and the other had 180.

After using Ozz's screw guidance, checking voltage at the back of trailer plug (post to cable female end 123 V both legs) after plugging in 123V and 176 V and at the main breakers 123 and 176V. With the 30 amp adapter installed at CG post 123V on both red and black wires and 123 at both breakers. What can feed back to give 176V. But it was no wonder my surge protector dropped the high leg.

The first thing that comes to mind is a bad neutral connection, whether it's in the extension cord, connector or internal breaker panel. In any case, it's not something you want to happen, and I'd check everything by inspection, not with a voltmeter, until I sorted it out. You do not want 240 V across anything that's designed for 120 V.

Try turning off all of your circuit breakers, including the main breaker. Then check the voltages again at the line side of the main breaker referenced to neutral. (with main breaker off there should be no voltage on the load side.) I assume you are checking both hot lines to the same neutral bus bar.
With all breakers off, it should isolate every electrical device in the coach. If you still see the high voltage, then ???.
If both lines measure ~120 vac, then turn on one breaker at a time until you see the voltage go back up. Then maybe we can come up with a better guess.
