Fuel Price tricks

A friend put me on to this. In Glendale AZ at 83rd ave and Bell road, there is a Circle K that sells Diesel (This is odd in itself) After fill, take your reciept inside and you get a rebate. So I tried it. Sign said 217.9 as did the pump. I pumped 23.863 gallons for a total of $52.00 ( I like round numbers). Took my reciept inside and they gave me $4.20 cash. I didn't ask questions, just put it in the beer fund. It fiqures about $2.00 per gallon net. Sure beats rnning across town to the flying J where price is almost identical.

Hess (here in the North East) has come out with their own credit card. 5% rebate on all fuel and 10% for the first 90 days. I am waiting for the card to arrive. I figure the first 90 days will cover the winter fuel spike season.

I got an AT&T Universal Master Card that does rebates on fuel, hotel, and several other purchases. I'd have to look but I think it was 10% on fuel and 5% on everything else. We got the card last March and pay it off every month. We use it for all our fuel purchases. We already got one check for over $80 and have another for over $50 in the mail right now. Definitely worth looking into whether one of these cards or another one.

I believe the Discover Gas card also deducts 10 % when you get the bill. That comes in the form af a cash back bonus, which you can usually double when you use it with their participating companies. We always use the Discover card to make money each year, and enjoy doubling our bonus at places like Red Lobster.
