Hello - New 2980 montana from B.C.

Just saying Hi !!

We live on the Sunshine Coast in B.C.
Just bought our first Montana this Nov ( 3rd Trailer ) .
We like to travel around B.C., Washington and Oregon States
would like to do the whole North America thing in a few years.
Still working ( School Bus contractor ) for 1 or 2 more years.
Also like to do warm water cruising, although Alaska was a great trip.
Fly RC Park Flyers, (Radio control airplanes).
Can someone tell us a little about this Mount Shasta Rally in May?

Thanks John & Dawn

Welcome to the MOC. Check out the site for Western Region for all the info on the Rally in May. Last year it was just a Western Region and we had a great time. Beautiful campground and wonderful people. This year the rally is a national rally (Spring). We hope you can join us. Make your reservations soon as it is Memorial Day weekend. Looking forward to meeting you.
Happy trails...................

John & Dawn, welcome to the forum. This is a great place to both learn and exchange information. We live south of you in Washington State (Near Spokane) during the nicer times of the year. Hope to meet up sometime, perhaps at the Rally.....Les and Sue

Hello there,

Sunshine Coast? Isn't that on Vancouver Island? Do you bring the trailer over to the mainland on the ferry? If so, is that very costly? I would like to travel to Vancouver Island someday.

Anyway, welcome to the Forum, and please do join in.

Hi Ontmont,

The Sunshine Coast is on the mainland but you still need to take a ferry to get here. You have to travel 10 kms across a souund that is 30 Kms long, ( The sound heads up towards Whistler Blackcomb Ski Resort) Home of the 2010 Olympics. To take the ferry with the truck and trailer is $130.00 Ca. that is for one way and you don't pay to go the other way.
Our truck & trailer is 59' long and you pay by the foot. we would pay about $140.00 each way to get on and off of Vancouver Island. and is well worth the cost. lots to do & see there and still some free space (at least for now)But the Island is getting more populated all the time.
thinking of moving there in a few years when retired.

Take care J&D

Nice to here that you got your new 2980. We have a a 2004 2980RL and we are really enjoying ourselves. Last year we spent three months in the southern US and this year it will be four months. Currently working our way down the California coast at Pismo Beach. When you retire, you might want to consider the Okanagan while the real estate can still be purchased, as we live in Westbank. Where did you purchase your Montana? We got ours built to CSA specs and got it from a Spokane Wa., dealer.
