Deep Cycle Battery

am looking at replacing the battery in my Montana. There are so many Deep Cycle batteries out there it's hard to decide on which one is the best for my purpose. I am looking at an Interstate Deep Cycle but wonder if anyone has a preference and experience with Excide or some other battery?

It might be best to post your camping style/needs in order to get educated opinions.

There are only 3 or 4 battery manufacturers in the country. Johnson controls, makes the both of those batteries, I think. Almost all batterys are privet labeled so it doesn't make much difference which one you chose.

Let me add that we never boon dock. We always have a source of power, so the battery is mainly used for to power the camper when it sits in the yard and when hooking up and unhooking and on the road at rest areas.

Our new rig will have two Interstates in it because it's easy to find a dealer if you have a warranty claim.

We put the same demands on our battery as you. One 12-volt Interstate is what I use.

I am a big fan of Deka Battery's Mfg by East Penn Mfg in independently owned Company.
They make a Quality battery. You can purchase at Loews on line and pick up at the store they normally do not stock. You have a choice of size Group 24,27or31 the higher the Group the larger the batterry and higher the capacity so you have to check if it will fit in your battery box.
You can check dimentions on the Loews site. Deka Marine Master
I might add I am not a fan of Interstate Brand. A lot of premature failures.

Have always used Interstate batteries in all my vehicles and trailers. Every model I have purchased over the years for a vehicle or trailer always came with a generous "full warranty" period (i.e. if it fails for any reason during that period you got a totally free replacement) and then a pro-rated period after that. I have owned diesel trucks for many years and had two that "ate" batteries. What I would do is mark my calendar to have the dealer check the batteries 1-2 months before the full warranty period ran out. Once I did that I never had to buy another battery for that truck.

We also have used Interstate on our units, although we rarely drycamp.

Our dealer originally installed two Centennial RV/Marine Deep Cycle Maintenance Free group 24 batteries in our rig, and they held up very well. I replaced them with the same, only group 27, and we can dry camp occasionally with no issues. Not sure who makes the Centennial, but it sure is nice having them as maintenance free and not having to mess with checking water all the time.

I use Exide only because CW always has them in stock. Two size 27 work best for me.

Homedepot also has Exide and cheaper. At least my Homedepot has them. Find them in the tool section.
