Tell me it didn't happen!

I was just at the dealer where I got a truck cover installed when a conversation came up about my bed-saver. I was told that they quit making them because they didn't sell enough. The sales rep was apparently in the store about a week ago and took out their stuff. He didn't say what brand though but I still hated to hear that! Anyone else hear that?

I thought I read somewhere Blue-Ox was not making their bedsaver anymore. I have the Butch's bar, which thankfully hasn't had to come into play yet.

Save yourself some money and effort trying to track down the Blue Ox as they did discontinue the product (at least at last check) ... get Butch's much cheaper alternative ... easy install ... works like a charm.

Had Butch's for years and actually used it once. Great product for a great price.

I also have the Butch's, its simple and easy to install. The worse thing is interruptions that distract me. I think of it as others here have called it "an insurance policy".

I bought mine on ebay. I looked there last night after Jimmy posted the web-site being down. I didn't see it on ebay either. The name of the company, I believe is Butch's Services LLC. That's how it's listed on my Paypal account. Good luck.

My position is still the same for a bed saver to be useful it must be passive. Not have to set it. If you for any reason, you get interrupted, in a hurry or whatever and forget to lock or check the hitch you will forget the butch's bed saver. I too am sorry Blue Ox no longer makes their bed saver so I guess I will be keeping mine.

Since we have the Bedsaver on our Reese hitch and since they are made here in Nebraska, I decided to call Blue Ox and talk to them personally. I was informed that they DO NOT MAKE THE BEDSAVER anymore. I even asked if they would work with people if they came to their factory and campground if they wanted a Bedsaver made. The answer was they were sorry but they could not do that anymore. I told them I thought it was a mistake and they lady I talked to said that "the sales on the item(Bedsaver) just were not high enough to keep making them." That's to bad because it is the best insurance policy I've got Just incase the unit should come off the hitch and drop. No bed rail or tailgate damage and that is about about a $4000 bonus to me!

Doing a search for the Blue Ox bed saver reveals a few sites that are advertising they have them. Perhaps they are just selling what they have in stock. It might be a good time to buy one if any is available. I’ll certainly be keeping the one I have also.

I posted that blue ox no longer makes the bedsaver 2 or 3 months ago. I found out when I was looking for a new beds saver for my Trailer saver hitch. They had just stopped production a couple of weeks before that fortunately it was not yet common knowledge and I was able to get one from Amazon before they ran out.

I am trying to find a way to contact butch's services without any luck on the web. Does anyone have a phone number, or other way to contact them?

Have you tried doing a search on eBay. Years ago when I bought mine they were marketed through eBay.

I spent several days last summer trying to contact Butch's services and failed on every attempt. I finally gave up.

After a Reese hitch fail, we put the Bed saver on the new Reese. When we traded trucks and got the Curt hitch that fits our new Ram, had the local welding shop cut the Bed saver down to fit the new hitch. It is passive; that is, it doesn't have to be set in any way. Also use it to make sure the kingpin is at the proper height when hooking up. Was also told by a Blue Ox rep that they were no longer making it for slow sale reasons but they were still available on Amazon and Ebay. That was last fall tho.

Well, I've been doing this for about 5 years now. Until I joined this forum, I'd never heard of Blue Ox or a bed-saver. That leads me to believe that they had a very, very poor marketing plan which lead to abysmal sales.
