Problem

Update on the leaking Gray tank, The tank that takes wast for the kitchen, I found that the vent pipe that runs under the fridge and up behind the fridge had in fact snapped at the elbow joint, and the Gray tank for the shower and sink, has a 2 inch stress crack in it, and the smelly gunk that has accumulated underneath is horrible, and very dangerous, no wonder we were getting very ill with the smell that was entering inside, breathing in Hydrogen Sulfide over the last 8 months has not been very good on our health,I am so relieved that I have found the problem and temporary stopped the ingress of the nasty smell entering in, now just got to fix the problem for good.

My first thought is that there should be a vent (vacuum breaker)under the sink on the drain piping. This vent may be stuck open allowing the stink into the trailer as the fan creates a slight vacuum inside. This is a common source of bad odors from the tanks.

Where is the crack in the tank? Is it at the drain pipe connection or somewhere else? Extra support for the bottom of the tank and a flexable joint in the drain line are the recomended ways of preventing this from happening again. You should also have a close look at the other tanks.

I would call Keystone customer service and see what advise they may have. Replacing the tanks can be done by a individual but finding one in the UK is going to be a problem. They can also be repaired.

When our galley tank leaked it also produced a really bad smell.

My grey tank had a small leak on the bottom center of the tank. I was able to repair it with "Water Weld" 3 years ago and all is well.

After all is said and done, Montana quality and reliability beats most of the competition in the same price range. Sorry for your experience. Further frustrating because of geographic location.

We have had two Montana's and they have both had many, many problems large and small. However any other brand in the price range would be no better. Once you spend all the $$$ to have it repaired it will serve you well. We have had the extended warranty on the 06 3400 and on this 13 3402 and we figure that counting the warranty repair by Keystone , the extended warranty companies and out of my pocket at around 7 or 8 thousand$$$$. The 13 3402 is in the shop for two leaking tanks now.

BTW how did you get a Montana in the UK????

Can someone be so kind and have a look on their Montana and see what the part number is for the door entry gas spring/Strut please? and also the gas spring/Strut that holds up the extended Kitchen work top that is next to the sinks? both these seem to be missing, i have no clue what size they are meant to be.

Thank you
