Replacing slide facial board..

Has anyone replaced the facial board on their slides? I have a bad board on the large slide that has started to buckle on the bottom. I am thinking about replacing the paper covered particle board with oak. Looking for info on how it is attached with the boot around the slide. Thank for any help you can give...

Hey Larry, Most of the newer facial boards are wood as you know. They are just brad nailed on. I was going to do that with our 2001 and never got it done. Have at it.

On my 3402RL the facial boards are decorative only, they are solid wood, but the rubber boot is not attached to it directly. You should be able to see the fillings over the brad nails used to hold them on. Not a great big job to remove and replace which I had to do on the one side of the desk slide.

I am going to start the process in the next couple of days. Mine unit has about 3-4 button screw covers in the middle of the trim but was wondering if I takes these screws loose would the boot shift. I am going to replace both slide facial board so they should last longer.
