E Heins Hacked?

Got an email from Erwin/August Heins saying he was stranded in Great Britain and needed money sent for airfare back home. Looks like his email was hacked. His problem was a fire in his hotel and when I was hacked it was because I was robbed in Great Britain. If anyone can contact him by means other than email, it would probably help him greatly.

Good idea, I doubt he towed the Monty over there.

I'm guessing this is a hoax. I get these emails from people on my email friend's lists too many times. The hackers try to use names you are familiar with so it looks more real. I feel sorry for when this is ever real.

Silly DQDick, he would have had the Monty "shipped"

When I was hacked, similar emails were sent to my contacts looking for money, so I just hope there is a way for someone to contact them other than using their email.

How about a different email account. There are several around now that are free, and easy to set up.

This is a scam that's been going on for a number of years. And you'd be surprised by the number of people that fall for it. My mother-in-law almost did. Fortunately before she sent off the $2000 requested she called her grandson and was pleasantly surprised that we was alive and well in Austin TX where he was supposed to be.

Your accounts aren't hacked, but these scammers find out who you regularly email and use one of these people as the one's that are stranded in some foreign country and need money wired to them ASAP.

Point, is,

Does ANYONE have an alternative email addy or phone # for Mr. Heins?

Can someone contact him and be sure he is aware of this issue?

Advise him to change his passwords, to start.

Many of us realize it is a snarky hoax and have been victims of this, but, we wonder, does Mr. Heins know??

No, the point is his email address is spoofed, not hacked. There is a difference.

The perpetrators of this hoax really don't have control of his email account, but rather they make it look like it's coming from him. Even changing Mr. Heins' password wouldn't stop emails emanating from what looks to be his account.

Relax, and be aware that ALL of these kinds of emails are hoaxes. Spread that word, as it is usually us older, trusting folks who are the targets of the scammers. Heck, most young people don't have the financial ability to send the amount of money requested!
